had a sore throat most of last week, and after spending the afternoon in a smoky bar on Saturday, my sinuses opened up and its been a pretty long couple of days. If I had a desk job where I didnt have to talk, I would have gone to work today. in my line of work, they don't want for us to come to work if we are having trouble talking, or sound hoarse after 10 minutes of talking, which was the case today. So I used my second sick day of the year.

Trust me, shows like today, even though I didn't like that Iowa lost, are not the shows we want to miss. They don't come any easier than what today's show would have been. Soundoff on Saturday is always a bit more challenging after a loss, because its raw, and people are way more emotional. But I was there, and it was fine.

Some folks think that I live and die by all of this. I do not. I received several emails on Saturday after the loss, from folks that were genuine, and from the doobies of the world. To each of them, I said don't have any worry for me, because I have never felt better about every aspect of my life than I do right now. It's just a game. It's a game that I wanted Iowa to win, but it's still just a game, it's entertainment. It's not church, it's not a marriage, it's not an afternoon with my daughter; it's a game.

Sorry if this takes away some of the enjoyment for some of you that were thinking I was down in a hole quivering and sniveling ;)

The governor Mr speech impediment Tommy is on now saying his hot Hawk sources are telling him Ferentz is going to Michigan and it is about a done deal.

Probably the same sources who told him last year about this time that Bill Snyder to Iowa State was a done deal

Couldn't you just pretend... You totally took away from the enjoyment factor of Meltdown Monday.

Now please enjoy the rest of your night in the cold lonely cave your hiding in...

It was a lot more fun assuming you started hitting the bottle or were scared to come into work.

I knew there had to be some reason you didn't show up. This would have been one of your highest rated shows. Hell, I know I was interested in listening.

Jon, I don't listen to your show but I was going to flip it on today just to hear the meltdown from your fellow Hawkeye fans. But once I read that you were gone and the fill-in sucked, I decided against it.

I think we all know that Jon isn't the 100% Hawkeye homer a lot of people make him out to be. Hell, he was getting slaughtered on his own website earlier this year.

I would be curious to get your take on why this season wan't want anyone expected and what needs to be done to make sure this doesn't happen for the 4th year in a row next year.

Whoops...we all know Jon is a closet Cyclone fan.

Hey most Hawk fans already swore him off once this year.... Welcome aboard Jon...

Oh... and good soundoff show on Saturday with Steve. It's funny how he said basically the same thing you said all year, but fans actually listened to him, instead of booing you...

Miller's sports radio show is weak at best. Way too much hawkeye crap and also some phony, insincere, backhanded interest in ISU, UNI and Drake. I continue to be amused by Miller and his kool-aid drinkers that give every excuse short of admitting that the hawk players are not very good. Here's the excuses: too many off the field issues, play calling is horrible, Norm Parker is old and the game has passed him by, the team zigs when it should zag, if we could just get up for every game like the Illinois game, ferentz is too loyal to his assistants, we must have talent because we beat Illinois and played Wisconsin close. How about just admitting that your not a good team.

I found that amusing as well. But, that is life. Sometimes we stop listening to the same message when its something we disagree with. I can't blame people for that.

You can only call a spade a spade so many times Jon. I seriously thought Steve was being harsh about it, but I knew I heard someone else on the radio say it before.

Fans on both side are like this until they hear it from an outside source.

He's having a few rough days, his Hawks lost, and all the Hawk fans no longer like Jake, and that hurts Jon's feelings since he has a man crush on him! All I have to say to Jon is BOO to you!! Just like your Hawk fans did to their seniors on Saturday!

Jon, I say there must be law in the KXNO studios from now on that only Chuck Reed can fill in for you when you're sick. If it's planned then we need Keith Murphy and Andy Fales.

I hope you get to feeling better Jon!!!

Chuck will be there on Wednesday, as I have a vacation day for that day, my anniversary.
