I am thinking you have lost touch with reality. I got some tickets to this game the other day, and I am not feeling good about it at all. I foresee another blowout loss like last year.

I think I'm just more of a glass half full type of guy. You should give me your tickets I think.

Gotta be honest, I actually came away feeling worse about our chances after watching the game today.

EIU's Arob was great, and they also have Hampton (who was out today) and a DL starter was also out I believe.

I call it like I see it, color me impressed.

You have to remember ISU played a better team. I was personally praying Iowa would completely blow this team out.. That way they are overlooking Iowa State.

everytime i hear, "anything can happen"

all that means is, "i have no idea what is going to happen"

90% of fans belong in that category. myself included

I'm going to predict a Iowa 24-13 Victory. I would like our chances a lot more if this game were being played later on in the year.

My head says Iowa is a better team and playing at home, so that's the smart pick, but my heart is with ISU. Throw the records out on this one. I'm going to pick ISU in the upset, 16-14, with Stanzi blowing a late chance at pulling out yet another Hawk comeback win with a big Int to Sims, back from suspension. ISU breaks the TD streak in the 2nd quarter with a big Arnaud scramble.

EIU (the good) sucked and EIU (the bad) wasnt great. shouldve won by more. stanzi is mr. glass, i would worry more about vandenberg. all in all i wasnt overly impressed with the squawks today. i think next week is up in the air and that we can controll our own fate. AA needs to be on his AAAAA+ game for us and we need to get turnovers and pressure mr. glass!

RBs: push
WRs: +ISU
TE: push
Oline: push

Dline: +UofI
LBs: +UofI
DBs: +ISU

FGs: push
Kick Ret: +ISU
Punt: +UofI

In my opinion all of the above will equal each other out and the game will come down to QB play. I actually think AA has a bigger 'potential' than Stanzi, but he continues to make careless turnovers which will cost us in this one. That plus the home field will give UofI about a 10-13 pt win. Man I hope I am wrong though...

Stanzi is pretty good. The line is a question mark but I think they were missing 2 starters today.

Iowa was only missing 1 OL starter today....but he is arguably our second best OL...Adam Gettis. Ferentz has said Gettis has taken a huge step forward this season....so hawk fans are anxious to see him. A few of the running plays that EIU blew up today were because Gettis' replacement either got beat or lost an assignment (but he is a freshmen, so that is expected). Adding Gettis will definitely open some holes between the tackles.

Iowa was missing five total starters today, and all are expected to be back next week: Gettis, Prater, Hampton, Tarpinian and Binns.....so Iowa should look considerably better on both sides of the ball next week when those guys get into the line up (especially Hampton...everyone who has seen practice has said that Hampton adds an entirely new gear to the Iowa run game).

The reality is, we didn't learn too much today from Iowa that we didn't already know...the things I learned today that were encouraging:

- Stanzi took a sack or two when nothing was there and also checked down more than he did last year. It is obvious to me that he is more aware of ball security this season.

- The OL, even though they were playing an inferior opponent, looked pretty good. The line looked quite a bit better this season in the first game than it looked in the first game last season...so I was pretty happy about that (especially without Gettis). Basically, I saw enough today to think that the OL won't be a liability once we get into October....there is a lot of talent there....its just a matter of gaining experience.

The things I thought were negative:

-Bruce Davis is not as good in pass coverage as Pat Angerer....it isn't even close. Jeff Tarpinian is supposedly better in pass coverage, but we haven't seen him yet so we don't know. Davis is good with run support...but his pass coverage leaves something to be desired. On a side note - I was impressed with Tyler Nielsen today....I think he'll fill the role vacated by Edds quite nicely.

-Micah Hyde (the #2 corner) is talented, but he is young and will make mistakes. EIU scored their one TD because of two consecutive miscues by Hyde. He let an EIU WR beat him deep on a PA pass, then the next play he got beat in the corner of the end zone. He made a couple of great pass break ups....but you can tell he is inexperienced.

Those are my general observations of Iowa after one watching of the game....I'm going to watch the whole thing again tomorrow to get a better informed opinion of the game.

RBs: push
WRs: +ISU Completely disagree....McNutt/DJK are a better one/two punch than anything ISU has. I like Darks/Johnson, but they don't have more talent that DJK/McNutt.
TE: push
Oline: push I'd actually give ISU the advantage on the OL....more experience....Iowa probably has more talent, but it is young, and that will result in some mistakes.

Dline: +UofI
LBs: +UofI
DBs: +ISU No way in hell. Iowa has one of the best defensive backfields in the country. Sims is good, LJ is OK, but outside of that, ISU doesn't have much. Sash, Greenwood, Prater, and Hyde are a much better unit overall.
