as a local and a student I have been on both sides. Neither are perfect.
I am curious about the services comment tho.
Oh god don't get him started. If you thought he was boring talking about ISU athletics you ain't seen nothin yet.

Someone who isn't from Ames wouldn't understand. That's apparently most of the problem, out of towners who stop by to go to ISU and don't care about Ames. But yes, this was an Ames High event. I'd love to hear how you think it was an ISU event though.

Last post. It was not an ISU event. You are correct. To separate the Ames community (not Ames High) from ISU is incorrect.

Remember. You're Nevada without the university. Nevada.

Just saw this quote from Coach Mac, why is it that ISU fans can't be as classy as their coach that they claim to support? This is the recruiting game, you win some and you lose some. You put a lot of effort into guys who will never do anything for you, that's what it's all about.

“It probably impacted me more than it did them,” Iowa State head coach Greg McDermott said after the game. “Harrison was just one of the guys to them. He’s been around our gym for three years and we’ve invested a lot in it. He decided that this wasn’t the place. That’s okay. Are we disappointed? Yes. I wish him all of the best but my focus has to be on the guys who are on my team and that want to be on my team. He chose not to be and that’s okay.”

How are they going to move the whole town to the East though? That seems like a logistical nightmare.

If you think that's how Mac really feels behind the scenes, I question your judgment. He HAS to say that. It's politics.

Do you honestly think that's the reaction he had behind closed doors?

Gotcha, he's lying for the cameras. At home he's planning his trip to UNC and arranging with his buddies what letter he'll paint on his chest to spell WE HATE YOU HARRISON. I definitely believe that.

If he takes every lost recruit as personally as the people on this forum do he's in for an early coronary.

Why does it have to be so extreme with you? Did I say he HATES Barnes? No.

But you can't tell me his natural, human reaction was that diplomatic. If it was, I don't want him as my basketball coach.

I do, however, like the fact that our basketball coach can put up a strong front like that for the cameras on a rough day and win a game, though.

He's not your basketball coach, unless you're Craig Brackins.

He has to worry about the recruits he can get to come here and sorry we just don't have a lot of concrete success on the court under Mac to justify someone like Harrison coming to Iowa State over what North Carolina can offer him. I think this situation is completely different if we this was to potentially happen after the conclusion of next year. But this is a team coming off three pretty bad seasons and while Harrison does know these guys and is friends with them it just probably wasn't enough to give up an almost sure thing with North Carolina.

I'm sure out of anyone, this has hit Coach the hardest. He probably feels like HB just yanked his heart out and stomped on it. Obviously, this is not an ordinary case in recruiting so it's going to hurt more than, say, Joe Schmoe from Kalamazoo.

Joe can shoot a three like you wouldn't believe, I'd kill to have him. But if he doesn't come here I'll probably wish he would get injured.

No I'm fine with it. I thought it was your bed time though? I understand you don't want to leave the conversation being wrong, I hate that too, pet peeve I suppose.

Wrong about what? You obviously feel the way you do and I feel the way I do. Aren't that what the message boards are about?

Well, sure, but when one person is so obviously wrong it's hard to ignore it. What kind of Little Cyclone would I be if I didn't let people know when they were wrong?
