This is just silly...

The Magic got 37 FT attempts last night. The Lakers got 20. The Magic lost because they can't make FTs (only made 22), not because the refs totally swallowed their whistles, or because of some evil plan devised by David Stern...

I'm referring to the anointed one, Kobe. I saw all the missed free throws. Between that and dumb coaching, they deserve to lose. Stern is just making sure it happens.

Did you notice that none of the Faker fouled out last night? Everytime there was a foul with 2 or 3 players around, the guy with the fewest fouls got called.

Watched every game. Wennington had a beard that would make you get on your knees and beg for buttermilk.
It was easier to watch for me, apparently, because I didn't have my head all the way up my ***.

Took you a few mins to come up with that last line did it?

This. Pau came a long way to play for the freaking Grizzlies for a lot of years. He deserves a little love.

Kobe has:

Pau - many time allstar, people forget what a stud he was in Vancouver/Memphis

Odom - has been a 16 ppg scorer for his entire career was the man in Clipperville was a rising star as a young player under he had trouble putting down the hash.

Bynum - widely regarded as one of the best young centers in the league.

I'm not saying they're the greatest cast ever assembled, but Gasol / Odom / Bynum > Pippen / ? / ? from the Jordan years. Kobe has a lot of help.

The Bulls team without Jordan was much better than the Lakers without Kobe. The Bulls won 47 games when he went to play baseball for that year, and advanced to the conference semifinals. The year prior they had won 55 games with Jordan. I think the Bulls were a much better team.

I just don't think any of these teams in the NBA are great. I was thinking last night of the 80's era Lakers - that team was full of great players. 10 years from now, do you think the average fan will be able to name more than 1 player from this current Lakers team? I don't, and I am a fan.

Dwight has reason to complain as much as he does, he has an open dunk at the end of regulation, theres no logical proof that kobe is going for the ball, and just hacks the crap out of him, but there never seems to be calls on kobe at those times in the game. Another point is, kobe elbows jameer nelson, which is a charge, but the ref inadvertantly lets it go, though quite an obvious call, and pau hits a 3.
Wasn't it Fish who hit it? Maybe I'm thinking of his other two clutch threes, which brings me to another point. He came through bigger in game 4 then anyone else IMO, even if it was just two shots. I can't stand the Lakers, Kobe, or Gasol but I say they have this one wrapped up.

eh, 10 years from now no one will be able to name anyone but Magic off those Laker teams either ...

That's just it. The greatest things happen when you're watching. I remember Magic as a chunky guy that tried to coach, tried to come back and play and pretty much failed miserabley at everything. I'm told that's not the case for his whole career.

Wilt, Kareem, Magic-Bird, Jordan - they're all the "best ever" in someones mind .. and that someone is probably about 5 - 20 years younger than their "best-ever". And everyone forgives their stars mis-givings.

So Wilt slept with a million women and can't win championships
So Kareem stayed over his welcome to set records
So Magic got AIDS, sucked at coaching, and tried to hang on
So Bird is an a-hole
So Jordan is an gambler, tried to hang on to long and is horrible at making draft picks
So Kobe is raped 10 or 12 people ..

its all not a big deal to those who idolize them

Kareem was the best 43 year old basketball player that I ever did see.

And Michael did hit a few homers.

Kareem, the all-time leading scorer in the NBA, was also on those teams. It would be sad if he was forgotten...
i'll never forget this cat:
