Since 1997, the Iowa Hawkeyes volleyball team has beaten Iowa State once. That single victory occurred on September 11, 2015, when Iowa won a four-set match against the Cyclones in Iowa City. I was there I am staying away from this one to not jinx us again.Cyclone volleyball.jpg

I hate to do it but I guess I have to buy a month of BIG+ to watch the game

I was surprised by this because my wife and I went to several home volleyball matches our last two years of college (fall of 1999 and fall of 2000) and never once saw ISU win a set, let alone a match. Apparently ISU didn't play Iowa from 1998-2002. They also didn't play in 2004 or 2005.

EDIT: just confirming my memory of this
In 1999, ISU was 1-10 at home. ISU was swept in 9 of the 10 home losses.
In 2000, ISU was 1-13 at home. ISU was swept in all 13 home losses.
25 total home matches in those two seasons, and 22 of them were 0-3 losses. We probably attended something like 10 of them.

I was also in CHA that evening. EIU had players from both City and West that year and I knew both in passing, so I wasn’t as disappointed as I normally would have been. I’ve since relocated to MN to be near our grandchildren so I won’t be a jinx either! Go State!

Sure points for CyHawk in volleyball (usually), and both cross country teams each year. Helps offset the wrestling we lose every year.

We won CyHawk last year and this year home games/matches tip back to Ames so we should be favored (especially after getting the football win).

Iowa volleyball is usually hot garbage but seems to be improved this year. I would say Iowa State is certainly improved over last year as well. I expect a win but you never know.

Does anyone know the timeline of Nayeli's injury? I was impressed by Goolsby at the match on Sunday, but you'll never turn down as many pin hitters as you can get.

I have no knowledge, but wonder if she will red shirt.

She wasn’t planning to when she was at our table for Niang trivia.
I was only basing my opinion on her Instagram posts that she was just starting to jump for kills. I did see her play at the scrimmage, but only backrow. I hope she doesn't rush back and takes the time she needs to heal. She is a big cheerleader on the sidelines.

We lost to a struggling UNI team. Not expecting a win tonight.

While not the UNI teams of old, they’re still a solid squad. 4/5 losses to top 20 teams this year. Was not surprised to see us drop the match in Cedar Falls as they were the first team we saw with a pulse this season.

It would be disappointing to drop a match to Iowa especially in volleyball any year.

The cameras are moving around so much I’m getting dizzy.
