Howland at first suspended Nelson for violation of team rules and insubordination. Then he missed a flight for a game I believe, and that was the straw that broke the camels back. Was there other issues? I'm confused as to that is "ignoring the problem". I know Nelson had filed a lawsuit for defamation of character, but to let go Howland for doing his job is ludicrous.

Supposedly it went on quite awhile before Howland did anything.

Howland pretty much waited way too long to do anything about Reeves, IIRC. He kind let Nelson run the show until the Athletic department told him to do something about it.

Interesting article. I hadn't seen this three years ago. I think he learned from this "hands off" approach to players off the court issues. I'll be surprised if it happens again at Mississippi State.

That article makes me wonder how the players handled each other last year during some of their "distractions."

Don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure the UCLA AD and Howland had a fallen out. Much like the Bo Pelini/Nebraska situation...

Sucks for him, but he was a sit out transfer anyway right? If so, then hopefully he can rehab back to 100% in time for 2016-17.
