Fanatics -

The "offseason" is officially here and I am brainstorming like you wouldn't believe.

Question: Would you listen to/support (subscribe to on i'Tunes, download, etc.) a daily Cyclone Fanatic Podcast.

The podcast would include my commentary of course, guests over the phone, etc. It would be Iowa State themed but if it is daily, I'm sure it would get into other topics as well.

I'm just trying to see how much of a demand there is for this. Please leave constructive feedback. Thanks in advance.

During the football season: Yes.

During the rest of the year: Probably not, just not enough going on.

Saying this as somebody who normally listens to your podcasts already.

Just so you have a complete understanding of what I'd be doing here, the podcast would feature Iowa State guests. Coaches. Probably a player or two. For instance, if I was doing it this week, I'd get Knott and Klein on for sure.

Recruiting talk. Capital City League chatter. Etc.

There are always things going on anymore.

I don't know that I'd listen every day, but I'd certainly add it to my downloads.

I would definitely listen. Probably wouldn't get to each one every single day, but I would definitely be downloading them and what I missed during the week I'd probably listen to on the weekend while doing yardwork or brewing beer.

Every day might be a little tough though, for you guys, depending on how long each podcast is.

It's tought to do a daily podcast because of keepign things fresh. If you have the content, then that would be great, but I'm wondering if maybe 2 times a week to start, might be better. Good luck though, I'm game for whatever you guys put out there.

How long would the podcast be? If it was around 30 minutes, I'd definitely listen as much as I could. Especially if you could get it on the iTunes podcast library where people could subscribe instead of having to download it every day.

Probably not, but I don't really listen to podcasts.

I see myself treating it the same way I treat sports podcasts I already listen to like BS Report and Solid Verbal, where I basically pick and choose shows based on the guest/topic, especially during the offseason. I'm not sure how I see CF translating into a daily show though. If you're somebody who already frequents this site and listens to local sports talk during your commute, as I'd imagine the bulk of your potential audience does, a lot of the discussion already feels like retreading well-worn topics. You'd get away with it during basketball, and probably football season but april through mid-August would be BRUTAL unless you had some real creative tricks up your sleeve.

I could be on board with this. Granted, I wouldn't listen on weekends.

Id definitely listen. This is the time of the year where KXNO doesnt appeal to me as much, so a Fanatic podcast would be a welcomed replacement

We'd probably cap them at a half hour. Talk current events (Iowa State/Big 12), have an interview, call it good.

My suggestion would be to shoot for consistent and frequent, but not daily. It seems to me that about two or three per week would be a good level. Interviews would be what I would be most interested in (current players, former players, coaches, sports journalists, ect).

This reminds me of another point...I personally HATE podcasts that run shorter than 30 minutes. 45-60 is really my sweet spot, because I like to listen at work and an hour podcast is more conducive to getting into a groove and not constantly fiddling with my iPod. When you say "daily podcast" it makes think you're going to release a 10-15 minute update every day, and that would be very easy for me to skip. I realize daily probably makes some business sense because you could involve more sponsors, but I'd much rather keep a consistent weekly or bi-weekly format and have longer, higher-quality shows.
