Window 10 downloaded successfully on my 8.1 machine (finally). Played with it for half an hour - much better than 8.1. I'll be doing this onto my Win 7 laptop this weekend after I backup my files.

I like the Windows 10 so far, but it took me forever to figure out how and where to download it because I did not reserve a copy. I also made a copy to put on a friend's Windows 7 computer that is all messed up with a hijack virus. Hopefully I can get it installed after killing the infection.

Mine still hasn't started. My best guess after looking around is that it's because I have an NVIDIA video card and the default drivers that Microsoft has are not compatible with Win10. Maybe they're waiting to get that fixed before trying to update? I downloaded Win10 compatible drivers directly from NVIDIA but still nothing.

And when I go into Windows Update and look at my update history it says it has attempted to upgrade quite a few times but it fails every time. I guess I'll just wait. :skeptical:

Please post the results.

I like the layout better than windows 8. The tool they include for storage management is really nice I was able to clear off like 20 gb of crap I couldn't find otherwise with it. I also think that the ability to uninstall from the start menu will be nice.

Do you use GeForce Experience software?

Yeah that's how I updated to the latest driver. My video card isn't good enough for gaming so all I really use it for is updating the drivers. Now that I've updated to one they say is compatible with Win10 I think I might go ahead and try an install with an ISO file using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool.

Make sure you are up to date on all MS security patches. Found out that is why it was not showing Win10 available for me. As soon as I ran all the pending updates and rebooted it now says Win10 is ready for installation. I haven't run it yet, probably within the next week I will. I just want to make sure I have everything in order as far as data backup and such before I do it because the IT support guy in me knows nothing is ever 100% fail proof.

Probably something to consider too is once you install Win10 you probably want to create recovery media for it considering it's a new OS you probably want to make sure you have that on hand in case an update or something you do crashes it and need to do a repair or restore.

I have this issue on one of mine too. The error messages are less than helpful too. I don't think it has anything to do with the video card. It's just a stock Toshiba laptop.

The one problem I'm having with my laptop (and I don't think I can blame it on Windows 10 is my Synaptics PS/2 touchpad isn't working properly, and there isn't a driver for Windows 10. Can't scroll or gesture with the touchpad.

It'll probably take me awhile to appreciate all the new interface enhancements, but I'm loving how zippy my machine feels now.

It doesn't seem to matter how much I uninstall and reinstall the driver for my touchpad, gesturing and edge scrolling just isn't working.

Also, it takes an insanely long time for Win 10 to boot up. The good news is once I have things configured I won't be having to boot up all that often.

Really looking forward to this system as it improves over time.

If I recall, 99% of all Windows 8 machines will run better on Windows 10 and 91% of all Windows 7 Machines will run better as well. Those might not be exact but I'm pretty sure they are in the 90s.

I updated from 8 to 10 on Wednesday. Everything seemed to be working ok at first, but everything seemed a little buggy. Edge never really did seem to work right. Things just kept progressing from bad to worse as time went on. Steam wouldn't work, chrome started crashing, and all sorts of other crap started going wrong. I considered going back to 8, but decided for a clean install of 10 instead. Did it last night, and everything is working great so far. Sucked backing up all my media, and I lost my save game information for a few of my steam games, but overall much better so far. Fingers crossed.

I've experienced zero issues thus far (knock on wood). I love asking Cortana to open programs. It allows me to keep desktop clutter to a minimum.
