When I went, I would say "two with M O to go!" Back when I could eat two and not gain weight. Great food after drinking too much.

That's a solid number 2 but it's like a 20 minute drive from my house instead of 5. When I worked in CF though that was in the lunch rotation.

Renovated the Roundhouse and completely demolished to rebuild the football/soccer field and track. Will be renovating the middle school starting soon.

Demolished and built brand new Fareway. Renovated Walmart and HyVee, built brand new Menards and also now have Menards distribution center.

New Taco Bell, Arby's, Casey's, Kwik Star.

Brand new hospital, brand new McFarland Clinic, brand new library, brand new police and fire stations.

All in the last 10ish years.

When you go to Ottumwa you have to go the the little hole in the wall downtown that they built a parking ramp around. Way better than Maid tire and they have around ten different homemade pies every day

Not some expert, but I've spent a little bit of time in M'town, FD, and Ottumwa. M'Town's main street/downtown is a lot better than Dirty Dodge.

Have been to Ottumwa a couple times in the last year or so, and hadn't been for probably 20 years prior to that. It's 1000x better than it was. Main St. itself in Ottumwa has been fixed up a lot. Now, the side streets and blocks around it not so much, but the Main St. of Ottumwa is quite a bit better than M'Town and both are miles better than Ft. Dodge. Not saying Ottumwa is nice, but they have done a good job cleaning up their main street and getting businesses in there over the past 20 years.

All three are Main Street Communities, a national organization and one the Iowa Economic Development also is aligned with. It can be a great organization designed to help downtowns. One saying they used to have was the downtown is the heart of the community. Some communities do well utilizing Main Street and others do what they can. Community push back is one that usually inhibits things.
