I can understand people being frustrated they can't see the game, but to put the blame on Pollard seems strange. The game was ONLY going to be available on LHN, but now fans in Iowa can watch it on Cyclones.tv. How is this worse?

It was going to be a LHN game only if Pollard agreed to it in the first place. I'm not mad at him. I understand that we have to feel a little pain to advance the overall plan. It still sucks to miss the game, but just a few years ago there were games we missed every season.

Iowa State/Pollard have no say in the broadcast rights to a Texas home game.

Don't see this as a tough decision. It was TV options or no TV option, not ideal but it is just one game and as JP noted a few years back we didn't get every game or even most games. We are a little spoiled. I really like JP as our AD but not to be point of thinking that every little action is part of some grand master plan or something with big end game in mind.

Still looking for a place with Dish and the LH Network here in Mpls. Longhorn alumni group hasn't found a spot after calling like 40 places. They are now working to see if one of their members can stream it and hook up to TVs at a bar.

I have only been following the out-of-state options for this but now look to be in Iowa this weekend. It's not on cable Cyclone.TV, just Cyclone.TV internet, right? Being an out-of-stater I haven't ever really needed to understand the cable TV part in Iowa.

NO. IN IOWA IT IS ON THE CABLE CHANNEL AND CYCLONE.TV ON LINE.

As I understand it, this game is on LHN because ISU agreed to have it moved there from the first/second tier networks. The one game guaranteed to LHN (third tier) was UT/UNT on 8/30. Otherwise this game would have been covered by the ABC/ESPN networks or FOX networks.

Had this game remained on the first/second tier networks, the Big 12 might have at least gotten on game on a first tier network at a decent time (see my post above).

Iowa State/Pollard have no say in the broadcast rights to a Texas home game.

In this case, ISU did have a say...

Pollard had to agree to let the game be on LHN. He chose to partner with UT to put it on Cyclone.TV and alienate his out of state viewers. I guess I don't understand how this grows the brand. Getting as many people as possible to watch an ISU game, grows the brand limiting the number who can watch does not grow the brand. If he means by raising mediacom viewership, that is ********. I typically trust JP on these things, but this time he ****ed the out of state fans and that is who he should be trying to cater to. The people in Iowa that are ISU fans will always have a way to watch, but to alienate alumni outside of Iowa really lets us know what we are worth.

Iowa State/Pollard have no say in the broadcast rights to a Texas home game. They are doing us a favor (and increasing their own exposure) by allowing us to show the game on Cyclones.tv.

I'm not sure of the specifics but I wouldn't count on it being Texas doing us a favor.

Sucks - already tested out the LHN link and "Not Authorized User" I would rather watch the game on Fox College Sports - Non HD - like I used to in CA, rather than not at all.

Not true. Part of the deal with the Longhorn network getting conference games is that Texas has to get the visiting team to agree to the game being aired on LHN.

You're wrong. It's a Big 12 game.

You are simply wrong on this. This game was not going to be on LHN until ISU agreed to have it moved there.

Not true, ISU had to agree to it being on LHN. All conference games are to be on no lower than a tier 2 channel, per the newest TV deal. To get it down to Tier 3 takes both parties to agree to it. As JP said he took the oportunity to grow the Cyclone.tv brand.

If this was a nonconference game you would be right. North Texas had no say in UT putting that game on LHN.

I also get that it is the conference that limits the online viewership. But what I don't understand from a conference perspective, why allow two schools to do this, you are weakening your conference brand and tv deals by taking UT off of Tier 2 or better television. UT is by far the most popular TV draw in the B12, why Fox and the B12 would let this happen escapes me. I get it from ESPN side, cause they are paying UT a **** ton of money for no product at this point.

I am guessing the reason their is no Tier 1 game, is Fox said **** you we aren't making one of our selections for tier 1 when you ****ed us by not forcing UT and ISU adhere to the contract.

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification.
