How many other 7'1", 260 pound big men are there in college basketball? Woodbury's value lies in the fact that he is tall and relatively strong. Is there something you would like to disagree with?

I guarantee Woodbury is the only 7 footer in college basketball with a 6'9 wingspan

So now freshman year Basabe was similar to junior year McKay he's just two inches shorter and not near as athletic. That is the best comparison you could come up with. Lol cmon man

I remember comparing 2 incoming freshmen once. Basabe and Ejim, they were a wash.

He IS good at using his rump for a backboard on opposing teams' inbounds plays, then fouling the shooter as he makes the layup.

So there's that.

I like reading the analysis on here of the head to head game. Niang had 16 points in that game, Uthoff had 32. But since Niang got most of his points in the 2nd half, its better. I will take a 32 point "disappearing act" over a "clutch" 16 points any day.

I'll take the player who is 3-0 vs. Uthoff. Uthoff is 0-3 vs. Niang.

I'll take the player who leads in every major statistical category.

I'll take the player who will go down as the winningest player ever for his respective school.

I'll take the player who's jersey will hang in the rafters next to the fricken Mayor.

Any other questions?

How many college basketball fan's know who Georges Niang is? How many know who Jared Uhtoff is? I'm going to assume anyone who's paid attention to college basketball the past four years know exactly who Georges is, while outside of the Big 10, not many would know about Uhtoff.

I think it's a little unreasonable to say Woodbury has no value. When you're 7'1", you have value just based on shot blocking and dunking.

I watch exactly one hok game a year. No other highlights, not a minute of another game(thankfully, I live in the heart of Big 12 country). I had no recollection that uhtoff was on the team last year. If he was that good, I would have at least heard of the guy throughout years of watching college basketball. Not that I would care.

Honestly, a college basketball fan should know who Jared Uthoff is and was.

This thread, much like a fine wine, just gets better and better with time.

Question, is Uthoff a thug transfer in the Hawkeyes' point of view? Or does he have to be black for that title to work?

This is so dumb. Niang has done it for 4 years without redshirting. Utoff has done it this year as a RS Senior. enough said. Both good players.

What do last season's accomplishments have to do with this season? McKay has regressed significantly on the defensive end this year. Even then, the only reason McKay won it last year is because he blocked a lot of shots. He has never been a great individual defender.[/QUOTE

Yeah you are right Nerlens Noel was an awful defender all the dude did was blocked shots! That Mutombo character too was poor on D all he did was defend the rim and block shots.

Nerlins Noel Comment on a thread about Georges.

You expect fans to know a guy who averaged 7 and 12ppg the past two years on a middle of the pack Big 10 team?

Fans may not know him, lucky for JU NBA guys do since he's projected to go in the draft way before anyone from Ames.

Hard to compare them as they are very different types of players. Cases could be made for both guys. IMHO Uthoff projects better at the next level, he will play in the NBA. Niang will play overseas, which isn't a bad deal at all.

Ya but he's not good at either of those... (Unless you're joking?)
