This board turned sour because we are sick of losing. I think a losing program is driving away more recruits than this board. But hey, play the blame game if we must.

You can always recruit kids to programs which have struggled. It is much harder when the fan base is full of sour grapes to the point where fans don't want to win.

I, for one, am glad that everything is in lock-down. The attitude of the board has turned pretty sour (to say the least)--best to keep everything secret until it is done.

Thanks for the info. KG.

You can also join the Clueless Club!

considering most of what he was disseminating was flat wrong, it probably is good. got everyone stirred up over absolutely nothing many times (see John Wilkins as an example).

I'm going to take a positive approach today. I know at least 10 posters will jump on KG's "no worries" comment but whatever, I am fine with it, glad there's still at least some optimism somewhere and I for one am REALLY happy about the Nurse hire.

Knowing what we know, KNOWING that Greg will be here at least next year, KNOWING that Greg is putting together a whole new stuff, maybe a better staff, KNOWING we need to fill a few holes before next season just to field a complete roster...I see absolutely no reason to be negative or sarcastic at this point.

It does no good. I'm just going to HOPE Greg putting a new staff together is what brings success to ISU basketball. It does me nor anyone else any good to hope for anything different (in regards to MBB). I can sit through this offseason pi$$ed off about MBB and the head coaching situation or I can try to be somewhat positive about the staff shakeup and hope it's just what this program needed.

I'm obviously not saying everything around MBB all of a sudden is all sunshine and rainbows- it ain't. But if our new assistants feel confident they can go grab players yet this spring and are excited about it, well, that gives me more hope than I had one week ago.

I didn't put the blame anywhere w/ my sour statement, just an observation w/ no theory as to why. The only game being played is Jump to Conclusions, by you.

You are referencing situations that you know nothing about. Drob leaving changed everything with Wilkins. I don't care if you don't believe me! BUT the fact of the matter was kg gave the board information he had...if you don't want...ignore it! But I also know that he was correct, "when" he commented on Wilkins... I don't think he owns a time machine to go back and change his post.

Do you really think he can predict the future? He is giving out information based on current information given. Even if/when he is wrong, the information given is better than having no information at all.

Uh, John Wilkins and a coach had told people Wilkins was coming here.

Do we have more open scholarships than any of the other BCS schools? Just wondering.

Nope, sorry...I will say this boards comments are what as lead to info lock. Some on here have been ******* off parents and that doesn't go over well for anybody involved with the recruiting process.

Translation... Nearly every kid we have targeted has turned us down. Right now I have no idea who we are going after or if they are any good. I certainly don't want to tell you this information because it will make my employer look even worse and only prove further the inadequate job he has done. While I am at it I will spin these failures and blame it on the all powerful posters on CF. My employer is a very powerful man.... at some point every CF'er has spoken poorly of him and this is how we will exact our revenge. He will have the last laugh......My employer is..... Kaiser Soze!!:shocked:

Safi wasn't ripping you or jumping to conclusions. Just stating what turned this board sour. It was losing. We are all sick of losing.

ISU's MBB program is pretty crappy and we all know that but if anyone actually believes the message boards hurt recruiting more than the team losing for 4 straight years and GMAC's players fleeing this disaster, well that is the clueless person.

I would take KG's info with a grain of salt. Its probably based in truth but coated with BS, like the Clyburn wanted to redshirt info. That was ridiculous from the get go. ISU isn't in the position to back off any recruits right now.

Agreed. I won't apologize for not trusting a source who gets his only satisfaction from telling fans that are sick of losing with GMAC to "Get comfortable because he will be here a long, long time."

I would agree message board crap doesn't hurt more than losing. That's pretty obvious. If anyone's claiming that, which I really haven't seen, then yeah, they're idiots.

My OPINION is that it negative posting certainly doesn't help. Sometimes I'll post something pretty dam negative about Greg or the program and after I post it, I'll think "I hope a good recruit or his parents don't read what I just typed...maybe I should edit it or remove it just in case."

You have to admit, it can't HELP can it? Being negative on a message board has one of 2 effects on a recruit:

1) None
2) It's negatively impacts the kids view of ISU basketball.

Those are the only 2 options. It can't help. There's nothing positive about it. Even if you truly believe the impact is None, doesn't that chance that the impact might be negative, no matter how ridiculous that sounds, make you think twice a little bit about what you post? I know it does for me.

Personally, it doesn't bother me we don't know who Greg and his staff are targeting now because if a team is scrambling to get players at this point then the players the team is going after are most likely they aren't going to be that good or other teams are staying away from them for either grade or character issues.
I think at this point the best we can hope for is for the staff to find a kid that is under the radar that might be able to work hard and develop into a solid role player in a couple of years.
