I've said it for years... They should show the games with the ability to turn off the commentary. How sick would it be to just have in stadium audio? Crank it up and enjoy. I'd pay extra for that feature!

Iowa gets to do that Saturday......just saying

They were bashing on Ejim all night and felt inconvienced when they had to point out his double double. But even worse they were having a complete jerk fest over Baylor and relly acted like ISU should have rolled over and died as they could continue to get off on falatioing the bears.
Sorry, I didn't get that at all from these announcers. I thought they were very complimentary of Ejim. The slobbering over his lower body strength was borderline homo.

He is an armchair coach announcing the game

Exactly. The Tech game was even worse, if that's possible to believe. I can handle announcers being critical of the Clones, but all Doherty seems to offer are obvious "well, they should have done this differently here" type comments that anybody with even a marginal understanding of basketball could make.

Players constantly make mistakes in even the best basketball games ever, and it's not at all constrictive or informative for a d-bag announcer to constantly point them out.

Matt Doherty had some extremely really nice comments about Georges if you were listening. Really insightful you could tell Matt did some research.

I think he does have a point. Freddie has more time to read the defense and call something if he wants with ISU having the ball on the his side of the court.

We've lost a lot of games in the second half and final minute...seems to me Fred likes the first half.

Either way, the guy kills me...

I get that too, I may be experiencing some PTSD from over-exposure to Vitale. I do not appreciate announcers telling me what a great game I'm seeing when obvious mistakes are being made. I thought the guys tonight were OK for being the D-team of announcers (maybe more like the R team).

I wish more color guys were like Doherty and Bilas (you know providing insight into the game) instead of the verbal diarrhea you get from Raftery and Vitale

The announcer this thread is about may have been bashing Ejim, but Mitch Holthus has been pro ISU, pointing out how we lost to Texas and Kansas.
Mitch Holthus has said he likes to do games in ames and imo he does a good job

Some of his comments are pretty good, but then he will just make a really odd comment.

Haha, I totally get that...I'd take 100 Matt Dohertys over listening to Dookie V!

I dunno, Doherty can give some ok insights at time, but then he'll have one of those "He shoulda done this" statements, and all I can think is "No s*** Sherlock!" A bit Maddening.

GOOD STUFF

I think the beginning of the END for him at his alma mater UNC was an early loss AT HOME in 2001-2002 season to none other than HAMPTON

yest, the same HAMPTON that upset ISU 8-9 months earlier in the NCAA's

The worst comment came with about 35 secs left (25 secs on shot clock) in the 1st half when Doherty announced that Iowa State has a foul to give that they should use.

I'd give Doherty a B+ on his commentary of the game. He made allot of favorable comments about our Cyclones tonight. Would you rather have had **** Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ? Yikes.
