People talk about Grayer's scoring record but don't seem to give him credit for anything else. Keep in mind that he was all Big 8 three years but was also on the Big 8 all defensive team all four years. He was much more than a scorer.

Lloyd "Veloclone" Bentsen, "Young Cyclone fan, I watched Jeff Grayer. I knew Jeff Grayer. Jeff Grayer was a friend of mine. Young Cyclone fan, your younger choices are no Jeff Grayer." (prolonged shouts and applause from us old timers.)

All kidding aside, Grayer is at the very top of my list. His greatness cannot be overstated and I'm sad that our fellow Cyclone fans who didn't get to see him play didn't get to see the greatness that he brought game in and game out! Other great Cyclones were also, well, great for sure, but Grayer was the most complete player IMO.

Grayer's senior year: 25.3 pts, 9.4 r, 2.3 a, 1.6 stl per game. He led the league in scoring and if I recall correctly shared the rebounding title at 6'5".

You lose points in my book by turning pro early. Sure they are good for mostly for themselves which eliminates Fizer & Royce White, what dude was her for 1 season.

With history on his side. Hoiberg has to be the man. Especially when you add his coaching, no single person has been involved in more success.

I was here for Grayer, the end of Hornacek, Victor was a stud. Hoiberg is my guy though.

Horny had the best pro career but he was only a walk on... not sure how many games/points he has his first several seasons. Fred was the ball boy when i was here and we knew he could ball back in 7th grade.

So its Fred but damn was Tinsley fun to watch & win with. Remember dude never lost a game at Hilton, nobody else can say it but he only played 2 years.... So its Fred

Are you running for office or opening your own waffle house?

What stats are you going off of?

He was the most dominant player for the most dominant team in ISU history.

Guy shot over 46% for two teams that were some of the lousiest in ISU history, followed it up with one of the most efficient seasons in our history with a PER of 121.2.

Here's a stat: 2000 was the only elite eight team in Iowa State history.

You can take your 4-year guys' stats and convolude the argument. Another stat: if Fizer played his senior year, he would be our leading all time scorer, beating Grayer by about 300 points.

Fact is, people that know basketball understand that Fizer is our greatest, with Tinsley and Grayer coming in a close second.

I have to go with Tinsley as the greatest. He really helped Fizer succeed. And without Fizer, we still won the the Big 12 title without him. How do you lose a great player like that and then come back and win it the next year? The reason we won two titles primarily because we had Tinsely at point guard. Think about that. TWO BACK TO BACK TITLES with Tinsley led teams!!!! Hoibergs teams never came close to that. Heck, they lost a lot of home games in Hoiberg's senior year.

Most probably know this but just FYI of some who may not. Jarrod Uthoff currently a junior for Iowa is a son of former Iowa State great Dean Uthoff.

If Niang plays all 4 years he will be the GOAT.

My all time fave will always be Hornacek... he was just a true MVP. Just think if he played in the era of the 3pt shot.
