How far is everyone picking the Clones to go? I've filled out two office brackets -- one to te Final 8, the other as National Champs! Pass me the kool-aid!

I filled out two brackets as well. In my "Go with my head/be realistic" bracket I have them making the Elite 8 and falling to Michigan State. In my "Go with my heart/drinking the Kool-aid" bracket I have them going to the Final Four.

My realistic bracket had us in the elite 8. My annual Reckless Optimism bracket had us winning the whole thing. Other than our run, they're almost identical, so I said to heck with it and put the Reckless Optimism one in all my pools.

That's how it went for me too. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, though. Why not win the whole damn thing? Our guys are playing as well as anyone else in the field right now.

I think it's hard to be objective about your team, good or bad, when you've watched them every game the whole season. The fanbases that have been there before have more confidence that it can happen and are more trained to overlook their teams flaws, but I'll bet any hardcore MSU, Florida, Arizona, etc. fan could give you a list of reasons their team will get upset early that is just as long as Iowa State's.

The interesting thing is that it isn't necessarily reckless optimism. We don't know outside of playing NCCU and then the winner of the Providence - UNC game who ISU will play. Outside of those first 2 games ISU could play anyone because as we all know upsets are going to happen so there is no guarantee that Michigan State or Virginia will be waiting for the Clones if they make the regional final. Hell... if they make the Final Four there is no guarantee that Kansas or Florida will be waiting for them in the national semifinals. All you have to do is look at the West Region from last year where nearly every team was upset in the opening round. Could it happen again in a region this year? Who knows. I like ISU's chances to make a deep run because they are in a bracket with a weak #1 seed, the weakest #2 seed, a terribly weak #5 seed, a soft #6 seed, etc... If ISU takes care of business and somebody knocks off Michigan State I don't see any teams left to stand in ISU's way to the Final Four. That being said I think Sparty would have a terrible time trying to match up with ISU if they do make it.

In Buffet's bracket.........I figured to be in the top 20 to get the $100K, you have to be crazy.

ISU, Florida, Okie St, and Kentucky.............ISU wins in 2 OT over Okie St.

In my cash bracket, i have them in the final 4 - losing to FLA. Can't pick MSU like everyone else.

Haha, I kept the name from the past two years where I'd put two together; one with real picks, and one with ISU winning the whole thing.

I really think the Clones are a scary team to only have a day to prepare for. That's why I think the first and particularly the third game they play will be the toughest ones for them.

My father (the one that first got me hooked on Cyclone backetball during the Orr-era as a kid), just told me that if Iowa State makes the Final Four, he'd pay for my airfare to Dallas for the game. This needs to happen!
