New Solterra looks like a nice upgradeI’d love for someone to explain the variables of why they same fast charger hardware gives me different speeds different places/times.
I’ve had enough road trips now I bet I’ve charged at electrify America 12 times with my rate ranging from 29kwh to 111kwh. The 2023 version of my car (Solterra) is notoriously slow but I have the 2024 which I believe is just below average.

I hadn’t seen the announcement, so just watched a couple videos.. looks like massively improved fast charging as well as compatibility with the Tesla network.
They also announced a new model, the Trailseeker EV, which looks closer to an Outback EV in both form and function, as opposed to an obviously rebranded Toyota.
It does sound interesting.A $25k single cab truck sounds interesting.

Jeff Bezos’ Sub-$20k Slate EV Is A Bare-Bones Truck With Crank Windows And No Paint: Here Are The Details - The Autopian
In the most surprising automotive debut in decades, Slate — a company funded in part by Jeff Bezos — just showed a brand new pickup truck that comes standard with unpainted plastic body panels, crank windows, no heated seats, no radio, no infotainment screen, and steel wheels. Now all those people who say "Just give me a cheap car/truck without all the gimmicks" will now have an option. My guess is that a lot of people talk this way but when the rubber hits the road we'll hear
No radio
Bad range
After you actually get the things you want, it ends up costing $40k

I hope it does work out though. The more options the better.
I'm guessing it would have to do with saving the U.S. auto industry. Why not just allow BYD into the US rather than making so many compromises to get to that price point?
I am old enough to remember when Honda & Toyota were going to kill the Big3 in the 80s. Turned out the Big3 got their act together and started making better cars.I'm guessing it would have to do with saving the U.S. auto industry.
Me too. I remember in the early 80's when the big three were making complete junk and had 77% market share. 40 years later, they have bridged the gap......and have 42% market share. A couple million fewer cars being made by the big three every year. With that said, a lot of volume has went to foreign makers producing their cars in America, while the big three have been trending the opposite.I am old enough to remember when Honda & Toyota were going to kill the Big3 in the 80s. People always think business is a timed event, like a football game. It's not. Its more like evolution - adapt and change and survive. Then face the next threat which makes you adapt again.
Why not just allow BYD into the US rather than making so many compromises to get to that price point?
The flexibility of the different packs you can buy is interesting. Start with a single cab truck and buy the SUV kit to add seats, etc.It does sound interesting.

surprised ford isn't hitting them with a lawsuit as that looks very much like a Bronco.A $25k single cab truck sounds interesting.
