When do ABC coverage maps come out?

Here's what happens:
1) Go to ESPN3.com and try to watch something on an ESPN3 network.
2) A dialog box pops up saying your ISP cannot be confirmed and tells you select your ISP.
3) After picking TWC from the drop-down, you are taken to the TWC site and asked to log in to your account.
4) After logging in, a message pops up saying you do not have an appropriate cable package for ESPN3.

I've complained several times to TWC about it, but their response is always that they would be happy to sell me an appropriate cable TV package.

Thats too bad as I know what you are seeing is what everyone else sees who is trying to access ESPN3 content without using internet through a participating provider. If you have one of the normal providers outside of Time Warner, you don't have to do anything like signing in. ESPN3 just recognizes that the internet feed is Mediacom, for instance, and allows you access.

Not that it matters to anyone, but I have small amount of hope this game will be on ESPN 3D. Not likely but since I just got a 3D tv it would be fun to see the Jack in 3D for the game.

If there is an exception to this rule it will be Minnesota. Obviously all bets are off if they are up against a Big 10 game, even a crappy one. But barring that, there are sometimes some real headscratchers what they choose to air up here.

There are a lot of things in Minnesota that don't make sense. Surprised they don't say X-Y-Zed.

I used to have TWC cable/internet. After seeing ad after ad that TWC offers ESPN3, I cut the cable cord, and just kept the internet. Had some friends over for the weekend, and ESPN3 wasn't working. I found that out the hard way. According to them, they are the only ISP where you have to have the cable subscription to get ESPN3. So I cut their internet too and got UVerse internet. Have not regretted it one bit.

I wish enough people would cut the cable cord so more TV options would become available online. I realize that on a per/channel basis, things would be more expensive, but I would rather pay $15/month for full ESPN streaming access than $100/mo for a full cable bill. Sorry, $1200/year can be spent in better ways.

This is very interesting. I've never heard of this being the case, but it doesn't mean it isn't. My guess is that Time Warner might be one of the only exceptions as they are one of the only ones which are on both the WatchESPN and ESPN3 list. For Iowa, we mostly just deal with Mediacom. I personally only have Mediacom internet access and ESPN3 works great. In fact, ESPN3 is the only reason I get their internet service.

It's exactly like that. You have to have tv and internet through TWC to get ESPN3/Watch Espn. I think Comcast is like that now too.

Rant away. That ad you are talking about was extremely deceptive. After I saw it the first time, I thought maybe TWC had changed their policy, so I went to the PC to check it out, but it was the same old story.

I've even asked if I could get and ESPN add-on for my Internet, but no dice.

Did UVerse bring new wiring infrastructure to your house? The UVerse neighborhood fiber-to-copper distribution site is a couple of blocks from my house, but from what I could learn from the sales people who have come by, they would run it to my house from the distribution point over the existing copper that is already running through the neighborhood. The small distribution box for me and my neighbors is in my back yard in a low spot. It floods everytime it rains, and would take out our phone service (which we cancelled because AT&T would never fix it properly). The next time an AT&T tech comes into the neighborhood, I'll have to ask how the distribution to the houses really occurs. Also I really dread changing my email address for all my banking/shopping/utility accounts, which I would have to do if I dropped TWC.

I so wish Arlington would have chosen FIOS over UVerse...

Well its been 4 years running now since I cut the cord and I don't look back and regret it at all. I rely heavily on the internet and its almost turned into a game in finding a way to watch all the sports I want to watch throughout the year. In some weird way, I kind of like jumping through the hoops and finding the satisfaction of making things work. Maybe its just because I'm cheap and enjoy finding creative ways to be cheap. In fact, I'm the type of person that if I became a millionaire, I'd still probably not have cable and still would live the exact way I live now.

About the time all this was going on, we moved to an apartment already wired for UVerse. I had the option, so it felt really good to stick it to TWC.
