CyforPres, not sure how you can bag on "new country" and then post all Brooks & Dunn...

they're about as "new country" as it comes, sharing the spotlight with Garth & Alan Jackson when country really took over a big market share

When I say new country, I mean in the last few years. Performers like Taylor Swift are not really country. Good ****, but not country. Brooks and Dunn is very pop at times, but they are as close as your going to find on the radio today. All I'm saying is that if you want real new country, you have to look to alternative.

Shania Twain was T-Swift before T-Swift's parents bought that faulty condom.

the era of Garth / Alan Jackson / Clint Black / Vince Gill and a couple others like quadrupled the market share of country music and brought about the new "pop-ish" sounds.

blame them if you have to - but Kix & Ronnie are a helluva lot more like those 4 than any older stuff.

This is probably in my Top 10 Country songs of all time. The others were just some good ones off the top of my head.

Sorry but Garth Brooks brought country to the mainstream and for better or worse a lot of people sold out after that. If you listen to Garth compared to the crap today you see country is getting further and further away from what it was. Half of the people that claim to be country have never set foot near a horse or country setting.

Examples

Keith Urban
Kenny Chesney- after losing weight and becoming a tropical wierdo
Billy Currington- lives in Hawaii

I miss Chris LeDoux, Classic George, Garth (even though he's more new age), the outlaws. I still don't care for the Rockabilly country or whatever that stuff is called.

That said..

Not really country in the classic sense, but every song on Zac Brown Band's album is really good. It's a country/island mix, but much better than Chesney, imo.

Just play "whatever it is" for your girl & watch her melt!

I'm a big Blackhawk fan too - sort of boy-band-ish sound at times, but whatever. I have a buddy in the special forces that still claims N'Synch was a great band and everybody just hated on them in the end to be popular ... and he can kill you 8 ways before you hit the ground, so we all just smile and nod.

I would agree that B&D go with that group, but that music is closer is Cash and Waylon that songs like "Lover, Lover." I'm just saying that the alternative stuff coming out now is more country than Craig Morgan or similar. It just feel more original. It doesn't really matter because its all based on perspective and opinions.

Yeah, well, that's just like... your opinion man.
