I have had enough griping about this bball team, time to gripe about something else.A roll could be a pastry you enjoy at breakfast. Or it could be the action of a cylinder or ball rotating on it's axis. Or it could be the shifting of a ship in the waves. Lots of meanings to ROLL. Participation of a player in a game is not one. That is ROLE. WEBSTER:A part or character that a actor or player plays in a performance. Thank you for reading this important message.

They proabably did mean roll player. When you cannot keep up with the opponent you foul them by rolling into them and taking them out.

I'll chime in here too... you can lose your mind, your keys, or your virginity, but you don't "loose" them. You need to tighten a screw if it is too loose.

And yes, I was an English major. You do the math :biglaugh:

I used to work with families with troubled children, and on more than one occasion, I was told that the kids weren't "bein' have".

I hate "keeping a close eye" on anything. You can keep a "close watch" or you can "keep an eye" on something, but what the heck is a "close eye."

Mine is insure vs. ensure. Not something I see on here but elsewhere. You can ensure that something happens(or doesn't), you can only insure it if you call that gecko guy on tv.

This is a little off topic, but I despise when people put a "R" into a word that should not be there... For example,"I need to waRsh the car today". I will usually calmly tell them that there is not a "R" in WARSH:eek:

I'm with most of you. I was an engineering major at ISU, but that doesn't mean I can't speak (or write) English properly.

people who say "guesstimate" can die slow painful deaths...

So, do you just don't like portmanteaus? Or is it because you like to keep your heuristic and logical thought processes separate?

Just trying to understand the cause of your frustration.

And have you ever noticed that only pretentious people use the word pretentious?

Present company excluded of course.
