Not a to of updates here but at this point, I think it is a long shot that the kid ends up at Iowa State.

The AAU connection to Cal seems very real.

I don't want to write anything additional to that as it would be irresponsible at this point.

The big question here, for me, is what/if any restrictions there will be on a transfer. I don't think Iowa State has decided any of that yet.

Stay tuned.

Chris, do you think they have a grad-transfer guard lined up? I've seen a few throw that theory around as that being a reason for his departure.

Wish list for final 3 scholarships

1. Secret grad transfer @ChrisMWilliams has hinted about
2. Michael Jacobson
3. Hold for a late grad transfer stud (e.g Deandre Kane) or just bank for a mid year

A quality grad transfer would certainly help this team more than McNeill for this year, so let's hope they have one up their sleeve. Agree on Jacobson too, would be a great addition for the future.

It's time to start having this staff invest a lot more time and resources in the AAU circuit. We have literally lost 2 kids in the past month because of it.

Cal lost Charlie Moore to KU and they have no guards.

The number of players we have lost the past year is staggering...

Graduated

Morris
Mitrou-Long
Thomas
Burton
Bowie
Holden

Transferred

Ashton
Carter
Cooke
Ernst
Kasongo

The former two categories were inevitable (top) and probably beneficial (bottom).

The next three categories are the frustrating ones, though...

De-committed

Feazell
McNeill

Eligibility problems

Lard (though he did eventually make it to campus)
Malou

"Thought we had 'em'"*

Juiston
Morrow
Stokes

*trying not to grossly speculate here, relying on "50%+ chance" predictions from CW or JS

Having 2-3 more from the above categories would make this roster look much better.

Any others that I might have missed? We've just whiffed closing on a lot lately, it seems like.

i get that this is all typical recruiting crap, and that its all about bball....

but can you imagine being a kid from houston, thinking you're going to play in a small town, iowa college in front of 14k every night....to going to Cal Berkeley? Huge city campus, basketball irrelevant to 99.9% of the student body, for a completely unknown head coach and a much tougher academic environment?? Talk about a change!
