I went to The Blue Jay Cafe and they had a Matt Perault appreciation thread. He was the afternoon guy on 590(OMAHA) just last week. Did he get fired? I liked listening to his show because he covered all Big Twelve teams.

I haven't heard anything at all and I listen alot. Lately though he became a Husker Homer.

Got to Big Sports 590 website and you can see he posted a blog on March 14. So not sure what the Blue Jay thread was, but maybe they have a man crush?? Not like we don't have a weekly Marty and Miller and Jon D Miller thread.

I found an article in the Omaha City Weekly but couldn't get the link to work. Says he is out at the end of March. Just named a reliable source no name.

Is he coming to KXNO? I cannot believe the 1620s guys beat him.

Not only beat him but must have put a real good beaten on him. This tidbit from the article probably explains a lot of the reason for him leaving. "Perrault and his co-host Travis Justice were No. 9 with men 25-54 (the coveted demo for their format) in the latest report from the Arbitron radio ratings service in the 3-7 p.m. time slot, which encompasses most of their show."

Even though he is a homer of NU and CU he still is better than anyone on sports radio in Des Moines.

I heard this from a bunch of Creighton guys at a party tonight. It's too bad as while not the greatest, he is a million Xs better than the *** clowns on 1620.

Just goes to show you how delusional the Nebraska fans are. 1 station talked about Nebraska FB all the time, the other while promoting Creighton also gave coverage to Nebraska (all sports), as well as the Big XII, Iowa, and other regional teams, not to mention national topics. All this with a better host, but I guess it didn't play well with the locals, who only want to hear about Nebraska being a threat to win the national championship next year.

If you could avoid drowning in Husker kool aid, he put on a very good show. Much better than anything on kxno.

His Husker talk is easier to take then Hawk talk with Jon Miller. Presentation does a lot for you.

Wow.... After reading that, I'm kinda shocked. I actually thought he became more and more of a Husker Homer as time went on. Guess Husker fans really hate an "outsiders" point of view. If that is the case, they would really hate someone like Marty & Miller.

Competition is a great thing.

I though Matt Perrault did a pretty good job, but the 1620 guys are very good. Kevin Kugler is very good and one of the best play-by-play radio (he does football and basketball for Westwood One) Both stations shows are better than any in Des Moines and I think Perrault could do a good job in the Des Moines market.

Creighton fans love him because 590 carries Creighton sports and Perrault talks about them all the time. Think of it as a sports station in Des Moines talking primarily about Drake and UNI sports. The Drake and UNI fans would love it, but the Iowa and Iowa State fans (who far out number the other two) would be annoyed.

I do think Husker fans didn't give him a fair shake because of his alleged Creighton homerism. Matt did a nice job and I wish him luck and I hope he ends up in Des Moines.

So he's pretty much Cotlar minus talking local jazz scene.
