Except she will earn 10 times the $’s playing college ball another year…it would take 5 years of WNBA to match that.

I read an article that says she is probably making north of 7 figures in NIL this year. Nobody knows for sure, but if that’s even remotely true, leaving doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Idk why ppl think this is true. She'll have nil opportunities that have nothing to do with the U of I or anything related to playing in college. She is big enough to not need to handouts from the collectives. She's going to have Nike, Gatorade, milk does a body good.. Literally anything you can think of. She'll have these no matter where she plays. Her WNBA salary is meaningless in this discussion but it's more than the zero dollars she'll be paid from the U of I. The good thing is, the new nil rules will allow her to do this in spite of not being eligible to go pro.

She would get endorsement deals in the WNBA, yes. But the college game currently offers a significantly bigger stage than the WNBA. Companies get more value by paying her while she’s in school.

Hope Iowa can pull this off. Not only will I be happy because I hate Mulkey but Iowa winning I think would be huge for the sport because it would show other teams can win it other than the elite few.
I also just love watching Clark play.

Yeah it's not that she won't get endorsements in the WNBA it's that the companies she is doing endorsements for have a heavy interest in her staying in college as long as possible

The options of rooting for Iowa or Kim Mulkey are pretty awful.

Assessing this game with not much knowledge of either team - I feel LSU’s athleticism wins out tonight. Like if they shoot well at all I think they win. Iowa outside of their one forward and Clark do not have much offense. LSU probably going to have a huge advantage in rebounding

^This. I think she's smart enough to know this is the most fun she'll ever have playing basketball. Hell of a lot more people watching this afternoon than have ever watched a WNBA game. (BTW the game really should be on this evening like the men's game tomorrow night especially after a late Friday night game.) I mean she's a basketball junkie phenom but does seem to relish in the fun part. Throw in making a $1M doing it the fun trumps the possible extra money she'll get in the WNBA and having to go to Europe and essentially play all year. She'd get good money in Europe, China or Turkey cause she's a big name but not the crazy money Russian oligarchs were paying. That Russky money is gone (and they set the bar for anyone bidding against them to) for the foreseeable future.

For the similar reason I think Boston will opt for the WNBA draft. Her fun in college has probably peaked. She's been POY and has a team championship. If SC had won I might have leaned the other way since a threepeat would be a worthy thing to hang around for.

Of course this is just forum fun spitballing. Nobody knows what the gals will decide.

Call me crazy, but I didn't really see the hype around Boston the other night. Granted it was my first time watching her play and Iowa got her in foul early and otherwise executed a great gameplan to keep her in check, but I was not impressed at all. Didn't seem to have great touch, didn't have many moves, not great at creating her own offense... no idea how she beat out Clark for the award last year.

Yeah, but it's actually the Mulkey Tigers now. She's had a few Baylor squads fall short of the Final Four when they were favored to be in the title hunt but she's 3 out of 4 in winning it all when she get to that Final Four. Her only Final Four team to not win it was a team that was 9-7 in Big 12 play that she took post-season to Final Four. For what's worth she's 3-0 in the big game itself.

Mulkey be damned, I can't cheer for the hawks. Ever.

Missed that. My power went out Friday night and didn't get it back till supper time yesterday so am a little behind on news stuffs. Was preserving battery power yesterday. Good news is there was plenty of snow to pack coolers with to save save the stuff in the frig. The 8" of snow taketh away the power but saved the foods.

Hot takes about how to beat the Hoks:

1. Mulkey needs to take her clothing to the next level. IIRC, she has worn "North Carolina blue" while coaching Baylor to victory in a big game. So, in order to be truly radical, she should dress like Lisa Bluder! Full bland. Get inside the heads of the Hoks.

2. For the first 10 minutes, she should play a rotation of the best defensive guards, including those on the bench. Tell them to stop Clark at all costs, including hard fouls. Maybe also have an enforcer in the game to take care of Clark on drives to the hoop. Ugly-up the game. Again, get inside the heads of the Hoks, particularly Clark.

It's not the high road, but it might be a path for LSU to get off to a good start and win big. It's a game plan that has been used before.
