What are the chances we go after Dix

The 5th and 6th year thing isn’t going away. JUCO players are now eligible to play 4 years after JUCO. The NCAA has floated allowing 5 years of eligibility. Medical redshirts and exemptions seem more frequent than ever.
It's only a matter of time until an athlete sues to be able to play in college indefinitely, and I don't know the justification to not allow it.

Eventually we have to play or develop freshman or we will stop getting HS recruits to take us serious. I know Milan and Tamin have played, but they are the only 2.
Why do we prefer high school recruits?

Rosters are year to year. You don’t pass on better players over a concern about its impact on high school recruiting

Maybe as a student manager, but as a player? Nope. Guy has no stamina and can’t play defense.

I don't think that'll ever be an issue. TJ and the staff he's put around him are very solid at identifying talent and getting them to Ames. You're just not going to hit on every single guy. And we're also very honest with our guys in not sugarcoating things. If you end up not panning out to where the staff thought you'd be, you'll be talked to about it.

If you want to play, be better than the guy in front of you. And TJ's had more than just those two. Tyrese, Lipsey, Milan, Watson and who knows what JT ends up being. He's still a true freshman age wise so he's not behind at all. As far as Omaha goes, the game was just too fast for him last year and he wanted to play significant minutes. It's not uncommon for top guys to not pan out. Happens all the time.

COVID years and the transfer rules have made the days of lots of freshman playing not as common. If you're playing as a freshman you're either really good or the team you're playing for is not.

He’s not a P5 player. He’s just not. No matter what Ken Miller thinks.

Dix averages 13 points 3 rebounds in the big ten.
Heise averages 13 points and 6 rebounds in the Missouri Valley.

To say Dix isn’t a p5 player while Heise is currently on the 3rd ranked team in the country is crazy. If Dix played at UNI he would average 17 easily

Dix is a P5 player, but he also isn't a guy we're going to snag to be in our starting lineup next year. He'd be a better version of Heise, but I'm not sure TJ is going to sit there with the likes of Heise, Nojus and then Dix, especially with the influx of other guards we have coming in.

I agree with that. We will also have to see who transfers after the season. Probably won’t go after Dix but to say he is not a P5 player is crazy. He would be a good 6th or 7th man for a team like us but would probably be a starter at Nebraska type team

Dix is big and can shoot far with a quick trigger, but is saggy and droopy on defense. Better fit for Nebraska or Creighton. ISU only takes total packages.

If you want Dix, you have to take Freeman also. They are the ambiguously great duo. They go to the earring store together. They are squash bros. Fran won't let them get away so let's all stop dreaming.
