What are the chances we go after Dix

Why do we prefer high school recruits?

Rosters are year to year. You don’t pass on better players over a concern about its impact on high school recruiting

People really struggle with the fact that the days of 4 year players are all but over. Sure you will have some but every year is gonna be a relatively new roster.

I agree with that. We will also have to see who transfers after the season. Probably won’t go after Dix but to say he is not a P5 player is crazy. He would be a good 6th or 7th man for a team like us but would probably be a starter at Nebraska type team
I don't see Heise or Nojus transferring after this year. I guess Nate could just be done but I don't see that happening either. I also think he's going to figure his shooting out and the tone surrounding him changes. But yeah, don't think Nojus is going anywhere.

And yeah Dix would start at a lot P5 schools. He'd be a 6 man type player for a lot of the top 25 teams though.

Dix is a P5 player, but he also isn't a guy we're going to snag to be in our starting lineup next year. He'd be a better version of Heise, but I'm not sure TJ is going to sit there with the likes of Heise, Nojus and then Dix, especially with the influx of other guards we have coming in.
I think Dix would have a hard time adjusting to the physical nature of the Big 12 and would take a year to adjust. No good if you only have one year.

Dix is a pass—-Jamarion Batemon (‘25 recruit) had a 52 point game last month where he went 16-20 from 3 (all in the first half). Didn’t play the rest of the game.
Wow, I knew he had a 52 point game but didn't know he went 16-20 from 3. That is crazy at any level.

80% from 3 is crazy good even when it is 4 of 5. At 8 of 10 that is a career game. 16 of 20 is...well...I've run out of superlatives.

TJ has turned every one of our transfers into great (or at very least better) defenders. If he thinks Dix can buy in, he would absolutely be a plus to our team because he can shoot.

I'd take a guy who is experienced and can shoot 3's at a high rate. We lose Heise, Gilbert and Jones. All 6'4" to 6'5" guys. Just because they don't stress D at Iowa doesn't mean he couldn't learn to play it. Plus it would probably bug Hawk fans which is always fun.

Don't see TJ ever paying big bucks for a portal player. Not only would we have challenges coming up with the big bucks, it would be a fast way to destroy the culture he has built over the years.
If you listen to Iowa fans who think they're in the know, we're bank rolled by a millionaire and we can buy any prospect we want. It will always be funny they cant seem to make up their mind on if we're a poor school or loaded with millionaires.

I think Dix has another issue, I think TJ wants potential recruits to be from a winning culture...and than means winning not whining.
This 1000%….Dix doesn’t have what it takes to be a cyclone, or a hard nosed player in BIG 12. He mostly disappears in games against quality teams only to score late when game is no longer in question.

I thought Heise still had another year? He's a covid kid.
