Eventually we have to play or develop freshman or we will stop getting HS recruits to take us serious. I know Milan and Tamin have played, but they are the only 2.
I don't think that'll ever be an issue. TJ and the staff he's put around him are very solid at identifying talent and getting them to Ames. You're just not going to hit on every single guy. And we're also very honest with our guys in not sugarcoating things. If you end up not panning out to where the staff thought you'd be, you'll be talked to about it.
If you want to play, be better than the guy in front of you. And TJ's had more than just those two. Tyrese, Lipsey, Milan, Watson and who knows what JT ends up being. He's still a true freshman age wise so he's not behind at all. As far as Omaha goes, the game was just too fast for him last year and he wanted to play significant minutes. It's not uncommon for top guys to not pan out. Happens all the time.
COVID years and the transfer rules have made the days of lots of freshman playing not as common. If you're playing as a freshman you're either really good or the team you're playing for is not.
