West Virginia Coach after the game...

I enjoyed the part where Grier would never throw the ball away and instead get sacked outside of the pocket. That was fun

I had noticed that, it struck me that Grier is so selfish, he would rather take a sack or run out of bounds for a loss (which hurts the whole team) rather than throw away an incomplete pass (which hurts his completion percentage). So his attitude is, "Well, maybe we lost, but all I know is that I have completed over 70% of my passes this season which is what the NFL scouts are looking for!"

...called tonight’s WVU outing “the worst offensive performance in my 30 years of coaching.”

I've noticed when the QB is running for his life most of the game the offensive performance tends to be not so great. Maybe leaving a back in to help pass protect would have helped.

Tremendous game.

Just saw an incredible stat that I have a hard time believing .

WV ran 6 plays on the ISU side of the 50 and the last one was with 6:47 left in the 1st quarter.

Mind boggling. (if true)

What was their longest play from scrimmage? The lone offensive TD?

They gashed a bit on a couple of runs but ISU didn't let much else happen and seemed to be OK giving those up.

One thing that Heacock knows better than anyone is what staffs are willing to continue to run the ball and which staffs won't and he uses that. He'll let you rip off 10-15 yards on the ground here and there but he also knows you won't continue to do it.

... Best ISU defensive effort I can remember seeing.

It certainly is the best I can remember since the 1984 performance against then #2 Oklahoma (a loss at JTS where Oklahoma won 12-10). ISU didn't have an offense on that day in 84, but the defense was stifling. Believe that OU was still using mostly the wishbone and 'broken'bone offense in those days, so last night's performance was perhaps better.

Amazed that there is actually game footage of the 1984 game. After reviewing this, I think yesterday's performance was actually better.
(fast forward past the first 8+ minutes to the actual game)

Hard to believe he wasn't thrilled with WVU's lone offensive score VERY early in the game. Man, he must have just been fuming on the sidelines as the game wore on. Love it. :D

Seriously. Some of you guys expect him to say nice things about us when he is totally ticked at the performance of his own team. He speaks from his perspective. Enjoy the fact that we make a great coach talk about what a bad job his team did.

Yeah, people need to understand that when a quality team is beaten that badly, it wasn't just the opposing team. He gave enough credit, said great things about 15, 32 and 18 then he moved on to how bad they were.

I posted his actual and FULL interview. He had great praise for ISU and Purdy if anyone is interested in not being artificially outraged...

Not into the outrage or interested in listening to coaches talk after loses. It's all just ******** and waste of time. I watched the non-******** portion of the game, the actual game itself.

More interesting to read what people here on CF are saying about the game. Even the most idiotic comments are probably what the CF'er is actually thinking, well, excluding the sleeper trolls.

Whats with the "He does the little... pump fake thing... which is something you teach in junior high" comment?

Someone is a little butt hurt over their heisman contender being absolutely shown up by a true freshman.

Honestly, I was shocked at how much ISU completely dominated them. They simply could not block ISU or protect their QB at all. ISU held them 350 yards below their average, that is just crazy good defense.

And it's not like they were looking past ISU either. Potential for the season is exciting. Not sure OU/TCU would want to play us again.

I like the pump fakes, even if it does keep guys from jumping when he does it. If they get coached up to not jump then that will allow nice windows for him the throw. Actually, one of the best things that BP does is to buy time to complete the play. Pump fakes, better hand off fakes etc. all make the other team think more and attack less. Maybe the WVU coach doesn't like it because it is juvenile and maybe he doesn't like it because BP made his defense look really bad.
