I'll never understand why that didn't work. We had good players and he's won everywhere else. Like everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. He didn't even get close to making the tournament at ISU.

It’s baffling but think that the jump from mid-major to P6 basketball took some adjusting. We all knew he could coach but were worried he couldn’t get players to Ames. In reality, it was the opposite.

Maybe he can take Campbell with him and then we can all clear the deck on coach leaving anxiety.

His Creighton teams have looked way more simplified and comfortable compared to what I remember from the few games I saw him coach at ISUA.

Likely it was a good lesson in 'less is more' which is generally a successful approach.

Virginia is within 6 hours to a ton of basketball hotbeds (NC, DMV, Philadelphia, NYC). Otz isn't leaving for Virginia, but there's way more talent out their.
There’s also a sh!t ton of competition for those players. Including Big East schools with really deep NIL pockets.

The only job I could see Otz leaving for would be Marquette or maybe UW. Unless he gets disgruntled with the department I think he is a lifer.

Might require a divorce, too - that's what happens when you marry an ISU legend.

Why would TJ be interested in Virginia? ISU gets all the good transfers from there.;)
I read an article last week about TJ being the lead candidate. Stopped reading when they called ISU a mid-major program.

These dismissive articles are always so great. By now with Campbell we're more than used to them.

But I love how these writers think TJ's just there for the taking, like he's only waiting around slumming it at ISU until the Virginia job opens up so he can leave.
