Virginia is within 6 hours to a ton of basketball hotbeds (NC, DMV, Philadelphia, NYC). Otz isn't leaving for Virginia, but there's way more talent out their.
None of which seems to go to Virginia. Not when UNC and Duke are just down the coast.

The only way TJ would leave is when JP is no longer the AD and he had a few tough years and/or his contract was expiring. The main point is JP being the AD.

That is almost as laughable as some Indiana fans.

I heard somewhere on TV this weekend that Indiana has the largest MBB NIL fund in the Big 10. No way to verify that but if it is close to true that will attract some high level coaches as candidates. Combine a hungry fan base and big 10 media money and you could have a solid opportunity there.

That said I am in no way worried about TJ going to another P5 school anytime soon.

It was personnel, sure he had good players but too often they would leave resulting in holes in the team we weren't deep enough to fill. He was never a bad coach. Momentum becomes a thing as well. The Big 12 was more difficult than the Missouri or the Big East today, but he should have been better than he was.

No Virginia is not an upgrade in any way, and no way TJ talks to them or likely anyone. Sometimes a place just fits.

Greg did a terrible job adjusting his style of play at Iowa State. He brought UNI's slow shot clock bleeding offense into a locker room full of guys who could run. He learned his lesson at Iowa State and shook things up when he went to Creighton. Greg is a good coach who was a terrible coach at ISU. Both can be true.

Mac’s last year had Brackins, DG, Gilstrap, Dendy, Scotty, Lucca, Vanderbeken, Hamilton, and freshman 4 star Chris Colvin. More than enough talent on that team to be MUCH better than .500. So much drama though. Dendy was a spaz, Colvin was a whiny freshman, and Lucca just randomly left one day.

Sadly, he didn't just randomly leave. I know someone who worked with his host family in Decatur, Lucca leaving had been in the works for quite some time.

Yeah that's fair. To the public/fans though, it felt really random and out-of-nowhere.

This could have just been playing to the fan base, but I remember reading/hearing TJ say Allison didn't take their twins to any Washington games when he was an assistant there because they wanted their first experience to be Hilton. They were born in the middle of his time out there. Add to that the surprise move where he came back here to be an assistant after interviewing for and not getting the head coaching job in 2015. Its safe to say he has the job he wants long term.
