A friendly match between USA and the Nethlands Live on ESPN 2. Going to be tough, but it will be good to get ready for the world cup.

Anyone watching?

As soon as it came on ESPN2...I turned the station. I know this is not what you asked...and have probably heard this a million times...but soccer just doesn't do it for me.

its too bad really. Some of the the best athletes in the world play this sport. The fitness level it takes to compete with top notch teams is amazing. 2, 45 min halves, no timeouts and only halftime.

Which to bring up you next point about how players lay on the ground and are not hurt, part of that is strategy, you get a rest, team gets a rest, and you can get your shape back.

There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

strategy is laying on the ground? (I played in college, in Olympic Development Program etc)- You lay on the ground if you are weak, and think that being a wuss is more efficient than controlling the ball.

I don't understand the people who hate soccer so much yet spend so much time commenting on it.

I don't mind soccer. Not a big fan but not a hater. However the World Cup is appointment tv for me when the US Team is playing.

I agree. The WC is an amazing event and I'm not a consistent soccer fan. I can watch any game of the WC and be entertained...like a world war w/out casualities (unless you're from Columbia of course).

If I waned to be entertained by someone because they have a high fitness level, I would watch marathons or triathalons. But it isn't exciting to watch some guy jog down a street for hours, so that would just be dumb. Of course it isn't too exciting to watch a couple dozen guys jog around a field for a few hours either...

Next comes the argument that people who don't like soccer feel that way because they just don't understand the game. I call BS. I don't really understand the details of most of the sports I just watched in the Olympics, but I found them enjoyable to watch. Same thing with the X-games.

I enjoy the World Cup. I will be there watching the US games, and probably a couple of the big games at the end. And it will be a nice way to pass some time. But as soon as it is done I will go back to not caring about soccer until the next World Cup comes around.

Hope Holden is okay. I would like to see a midfield of Donovan, Bradley, Jones, Holden, and then team Dempsey and Jozy up top. I think Jozy can be a perfect target man, and instead of tryin to match him with Casey or Ching, just make Jozy the target and let CD run off him. Even if Charlie Davies miraculously is fit enough to play I'd still prefer a Jozy/Dempsey tandem up top.
