Hello everyone, I am alive and well. I ended up talking to the "old shriner" yesterday, or Randy. I went there about 4:30pm, and stopped outsite his place. He was out in the yard digging or something weird, and I asked him if this was the Johnson residence. He said no, and then I said, "Well shoot, these were the directions that I was given and now I'm lost." I told him that I was a bill collector and I normally operating in Des Moines. I asked him if he could give me directions back to Ames. I'm not going to lie, he was a little standoffish at first, but he told me his name was Randy, and gave me the directions.

After he gave me directions, I said to him, "Wow, that is sort of a strange place for a park. What is that building back there?" That's when it got weird. His reply was, "That is my soul and my rage." To which I said, "It sure looks pretty interesting. You must get a lot of kids and families out here when the weather is nice to play at the park." And he said, "Only the dead play here and their dance is one of the quiet song." At this point, he turned around, and just started walking back to his "house". I shouted out, "Thanks for your help Randy!" and turned to get in my car, but as I was about to get in, he shouted out, "My name is not Randy!".

All in all, it was weird. Is this guy crazy? In my professional opinion, yes. Is he dangerous? I'm not sure. If something would've happen and he had to throw down, I'm fairly certain I could've mopped the floor of his creepy park with him. Will I go back there again, definitely.

and my girlfriend thought I was crazy...props to you man!!! :notworthy::notworthy:

Very, very creepy! If you go back there, who will you say you are? The same bill collector from Des Moines?

I, too, think that the sudden increase of drive-by gawkers may start to irritate the guy. Hopefully it doesn't spark anything bad... :wideeyed:

I was thinking that if/when I go back there I may tell him that the last time I was there I lied and that I'm really his long lost nephew! Maybe then some of those walls he built up over the past 20 years will be broken down and he will start trusting people again.

He'll start trusting people because you lie to him? I'm lost on that logic.

If you are talking about going out a second or third time and messing with the guy, then yes, you are looking at harassment. Sorry that is the way it is.

I agree with CyAggie. Let's not ruin the best thread ever with juvenile acts and breaking laws in the name of being a tough guy. I'm all for the pics and videos we've seen, the story is great---but going on his property and lying to him and talking about beating him up is not cool anymore.

Talking about what you are going to do, might do, etc, on a message board might not be the best idea. It would make a County attorney's job easier to ensure that you get to spend some quality time in Jason Berryman's old bunk.

Agreed, big time! I don't think it's smart for CyAggie to talk about beating people up at all. Sure, I'm all for the funny talk, but nothing to serious.

I'm not sure who has more mental issues.. you or the shriner. Perhaps we could set up some group therapy?
