I hate to pick against us, but I think UNI wins by 9.

I think the team that wants to play slow and is disciplined will almost always be able to control tempo by taking their time on offense, and by getting people back on D rather than going to the offensive boards. So UNI will be able to slow ISU down. The impact of somebody getting hot from 3 will be greater than usual because of the limited possessions. Kind of like the Oklahoma-ISU football game, every play will be magnified because of the low number of possessions.

ISU's half court offense is not great, so if we get some buckets off of TOs and offensive rebounds, it could potentially make up for a bad shooting night.

Right now, I'd pick UNI to win pretty confidently.

Your hypothesis is spot on - but as the OP noted, UNI has not been shooting all that well lately. And missed shots, provided we can rebound, which isn't at all guaranteed, could be the catalyst for ISU to run and gun.

I'm not predicting that to happen, and I'm not very confident in the Clones' chances. I hope they win, but I doubt they will.

UNI is much better fundamentally and has faced much better competition, but I like the way we've been playing lately. Pickford is a fun player to watch, but so is Wigginton.

I'll say if we can avoid falling behind by double digits, we win 72-69. We're gonna need solid games from Han/Solo(since Star Wars is released this weekkend).

Playing Iowa State always seems to be a struggling shooters slump buster. Whether UNI shoots the ball well or night we won't be able to try to push tempo. UNI is really good at taking that piece of the equation away.

I like UNI in this game 63 to 57. I think UNI is a solid fundamental team, and I think we are prone to taking bad shots. UNI will take advantage of that and they will keep ISU at arms length the entire game (down 7 to 10 points early). I hope I'm wrong, but that is how I see it playing out.

Sounds like a lot of people should be ready to throw a large sum on UNI when the spread comes out Friday and ISU is favored
That's the plan. I hope we are favored. I have my doubts.

I think UNI's methodical pace will be tough for our guys to handle.

Wow a lot of people picking UNI. Surprising because I bet we will be favored by a few points in vegas.

Considering Jacobson is 5-1 against us and this isn't one of our better teams you shouldn't be that surprised.

Edit
The chart I was looking at was prior to the Big 4.
It looks like he is 6-2.

If I'm reading that right, kenpom thinks we'll win a dogfight 65-63. (57% chance to win. Also predicts we'll only win 3 more games after this one, woof).

Looks like ESPN's BPI gives us a 63.3% chance to win.

I get these sites don't know it all, but kind of surprised to see so many pessimistic predictions here. I think it'll be within 7 either way, and am going to go 74-69 ISU. Should be a good one!

Remember that KenPom and BPI don't have enough data points yet this year so they're still pullng data from last year when Iowa State would have been an overwhelming favorite...

Been expecting a loss here since before the season. Don't see anything to justify changing that. UNI by 6 in yet another ugly, low scoring game. I hate watching UNI games.

ISU will come out flat as usual. I can see UNI taking a 20 point lead, they are going to shoot lights out from the perimeter. ISU will make adjustments in the second half and make a spirited rally, will it be enough......NO!!!

Our secret weapon from Princeton negates the UNI back door. I think it comes down to if Lard can stay on the court. Hard for me to believe UNI has the athletes to handle him. Shame on the poster that compared him to McKay. I really think freshman Lard is already better than Sr. Jameel. Jameel struggled offensively except for the alley-oop or open dunk. ISU in a nail biter, but yes UNI will lead at half.

Didn't know that, thanks. Guess that explains it then.

I admit I haven't watched UNI yet this year so maybe I'm way off. Seems to me they beat a couple Boise level teams, lost to the 2 great teams they've played & beat a bunch of nobodies in between. Just going off of that & what we've done it's hard for me to predict anything other than a toss up.
