I was staying away from this but now I've been sucked back in...

UNI would have loved to get to play Iowa State and we'd have our answer, but it was Iowa State who chose to not play UNI. On the old schedule this game would have been in Hilton this year, but apparently it was too important to make sure that Iowa State could get Lamar and Mississippi Valley State on the schedule.

Do a home/home with UNI and just make UNI's home game at Wells Fargo. Problem solved.

What does that have to do with playing 12 to 14 top 50 rpi games in conference vs 2?

Just in big 12 play we play 7 road games against potential tournament teams. We will laugh at Rima when he thinks UNI would sweep that. Just like you'd laugh at ISU people claiming we'd take out Kentucky at their place.

I hate talking about UNI on here, but I have to call this guy out. Gary Rima, the voice of the UNI Panthers (KABOOM) tweeted that UNI would have won @KU and @OU. They're drinking the koolaid after beating all those top 200 RPI teams.

I don't know anything about this guy other than he's a joke.

I don't think Division 3 schools (jimlad) should be allowed in the top 25. Once you get there after having 1 decent win, against a bad Iowa team, it's easy to keep moving up because you're playing crap teams. Next thing you know you have a fraud of a team in the top 10 because they just beat Illinois State. Please.

End the series, unless UNI wants to play at Hilton.

Link?

You can bring that up with Fran.

From what I have heard, after he got kicked out up there he did not want to go back, and was a big advocate for the Big 4 Classic.

I can't believe this thread is still happening.

Some of you (Clone fans) sound like Hoks with all this little brother, thinking we're better than them $hit. It's making me a little sick.

Be happy for the in-state little guy making some noise. Of all Power 5 fanbases, we know best what it feels like to be the underdog.

Iowa State simply does not have to play UNI every year and doesn't have any obligation to do a home and home. I wish we would've played this year but this is the first year since 2010 that it would have actually been useful for ISU.

If UNI really really wanted to play ISU, I'm sure we'd do a 2 for 1. But UNI must be too scared to do that. :jimlad: (At least that's UNI fan logic)

This is not charity and if UNI thinks it can do better than what ISU offers, by all means go do it. Surely ISU is making a horrible mistake and the basketball program will be crippled by this game bring bi annual. I

Let's be clear here, ISU and Iowa are in relatively equivalent conferences, and play D1 football (ISU barely lately haha)

UNI is an FCS football team and a (good) mid major basketball team.

UNI and ISU are AAU accredited schools, UNI is not.

Your comparisons do not make sense.

UNI has loved to play Iowa State and Iowa in any sport since the beginning of time... it's no secret. Newsflash... it's not Iowa State or Iowa's responsibility to pay to play UNI so your pathetic athletic department doesn't go under. That is on UNI. As a Panther fan you should show a little respect and understand that if it wasn't for ISU and Iowa there wouldn't be any UNI athletics for you to watch.

Iowa State has every right to schedule who they want to. I've never said any differently.

Just don't throw out that Iowa State would roll UNI. We don't know. Its two teams that play wildly different styles that both do a helluva job with what they do.

Would have been a phenomenal game this year.

I've said my peace, I'm done.

You're creating a straw man. We're just saying play a tougher schedule before you go claiming guaranteed road wins at OU and KU or saying you're better than Iowa State, who plays a much better schedule.

:twitcy: I understand your feelings about UNI but that's a pretty funny statement. You need to get over McDermott coming from UNI.

It is UNI that has dropped the series. I would be perfectly fine with scheduling UNI as long as all games are in Hilton. UNI wants home and home, and I don't see why ISU would do that. Missouri Valley teams are NOT important enough to schedule Home and Home with. What other MV school is ISU doing Home and Home with?

So it's OK for Rima to blab about being able to beat OU and KU, but it's not OK for ISU fans to say ISU would beat UNI?

Side question... Is their a more overrated player in the country than Seth Tuttle? He only averages 16 and 6 playing in a conference that basically has no big men.

Sigh. I'm going to break my own pledge here to stop posting in this ridiculous and silly thread and answer this question. Yes, I'm sure there are many, many overrated players in the country and in no way, shape or form is Seth Tuttle one of them. He's a stud, especially considering the kind of style that UNI plays in, and right now is the frontrunner for MVC Player of the Year, and deservedly so. His offensive stats, according to sites like KenPom.com, are off the charts.

Just because you hate UNI and can't/won't give them any respect doesn't mean that the team or any of their players aren't any good.

And that's really worth 19 freakin' pages? Granted, I probably have at least 10 posts on this thread, so I'll make this one the last one. Anyway, if any fan base (or bases) is going to be so full of rage at what an admitted homer said about his team and their ability to hypothetically win on the road, hell, it should be Kansas and Oklahoma.

He's actually extremely efficient. He's a great player. Remember UNI plays at a snail's pace.

And while I wouldn't be as harsh as you maybe, I do think playing in the Big 12 would be a bit tougher on him. I think he'd be fine but wouldn't put up the gaudy efficiency numbers. The athletes you have to deal with are just another tier or two higher.

Can you imagine Niang in the MVC?
