End the series, unless UNI wants to play at Hilton.

So they are a fraud and yet you are afraid to play them on the road. Makes sense if you don't think about it.

Maybe we should play them on the road every year for practice since we are quite frankly not good at it.

Well, as a resident dual ISU/UNI fan here I feel obligated to put my own two cents in...

First off, I came late to the thread and have skimmed more than read word for word. Objectivity I disagree with Rima, but as he admits he is a total homer, so I think it's only fair to take what he says with a grain of salt before completely losing your mind with rage.

Secondly, WOW...some of you are just off the charts, laughably "trollable". Whiniest, thinnest-skinned fan base in the whole damn country.

In another thread UNI-related that I posted in a couple of days ago I shared my theory that some (not all) ISU fans seem to be so insecure in their fandom that even the thought of any other in-state school having success sends them into a petulant fit. Looks like some of the posts in this thread are proving my hypothesis correct.

Because UNI's NCAA appearance before 2004 are almost non-existent. Here is your answer.

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/tournament/history?team1Id=6937

Then compare it to.

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/tournament/history?team1Id=6247

Much like how ISU's tournament appearances were nonexistent before Hoiberg.

I added the other "post season" appearances because they are at least relevant to how a season went. Does anyone care about the CIT...CBI? No. However, even in years where ISU did not make the NCAA Tourney, they didn't even make the NIT or the other one.

I think having multiple programs have success in the state is a good thing. Unfortunately, some of you are too butthurt to accept that.

ISU isn't afraid to play them on the road, we just don't need to. Why would we? Only benefits UNI. UNI needs ISU, ISU does not need UNI. (Same applies to Iowa. Neither one of us need UNI)

Isn't the CIT a mid major tournament? I hope we wouldn't participate in that one or the CBI. Your NIT berth hurts my feelings.

You're right. Had ISU played and beat UNI this year, and UNI went on to have the season they're having now...having a win over a team that finished in the top 10 certainly has no benefits.

As illustrated by this thread, people professing to be fans of both UNI and ISU are typically very marginal ISU fans.

Well that's not me then because I hate UNI athletics, I just attended the school.

Just because ISU fans can't seem to enjoy our success doesn't mean we should expect the same from other fan bases. Isn't this the highest AP ranking UNI has ever had? Man, just let them enjoy it. If a questionable statement or two surfaces, let it go it's not a big deal.

Also, having watched several UNI games (VCU, Iowa & WSU), I don't think Rima's statement is completely off the deep end. UNI has a good team this year. Do I think UNI would win at OU or KU? No....but they would have a puncher's chance.

ISU's tournament appearances were non-existent before Fred? Do you know what the word non-existent means? Did you even bother to click on the link? Before Fred ISU went to the NCAA tournament in:

2005, 2001, 2000, 1997, 1996, 1995...do you want me to keep going I have 7 more to go.

UNI go into the NCAA tournament once prior to 2004.

Well, since I'm the dual fan who posted on this very page I'm going to step out on a limb and guess this is directed at me.

I take great offense to this; I would like to tell you where to go and what to do to yourself once you get there, but that won't make it past the filters and might earn me a short-term ban, so I'll write this instead; if your idea of a dual fan is someone (like me) who is from Ames and grew up going to games in Hilton thanks to the season tickets our family got, and is someone who flew from Denver to Louisville back in 2012 to go to the first NCAA tournament that ISU had made in a damn long time, and who also drove from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Dayton back in 2013 to go watch the team play in the tournament again, and who also has the Cyclone games on ESPN be the centerpiece of my weekend plans, and who frankly owns more ISU clothing than UNI clothing, then sure, I guess I'm a "marginal" fan, especially since I have the emotional maturity and security in my own "fandom" to be able to cheer for both my hometown school and my alma mater without behaving like a spoiled brat who can't stand others to have nice things either.

Stupid post.

To be fair UNI could beat KU and OU on a given night.

Yeah.......& on any given night Kansas and Oklahoma could whip uni by 50 points or so!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember UNI stands for University of Nothing Important...That's why I see cars with UNI License Plates and the U of I logos all over them...........They are really just hok fans......

The poster I was referring to said the only reason I went for a 10 years scope was because that would only include UNI's success. Saying something like, "well, lets look at the 5 year scope," is similar to saying, "lets just look at 5 years because that is when Fred got here." I'm not discrediting or overlooking any of ISU's success. Shoot, if you went for a 20 year scope, ISU has a much more impressive resume by far. I was just trying to show, that in the last 10 years, judging only by, head to head matches and post season appearances, the two teams are quite equal.

So you're saying the game would play out much like the games against ISU?

The second half of your post is childish and insecure.

Label me butthurt then. I will never, ever, be all happy and joyous that Iowa and UNI are doing well. The only way this sort of thinking happens is if someone moves out of the state for a long time and is not around those annoying fan bases, or the person was never a big ISU fan in the first place.
