Moving past this season. Does anyone have an idea if The Greek will be able to contribute next year? I am hopeful his first year here was good for him developmentally. It had to be really tough being that far from home as a freshman speaking a second language, etc.

He didn't look very comfortable on the court this year. I'm kind of expecting him to need another year of weight and development. Maybe he can play meaningful minutes his junior year. Seems like a great dude, has a lot of passion for the team.

Nothing against him, but I really doubt it. We will be loaded again next year. There already aren't enough minutes to go around, and then if we add Diallo, there's no way he sees the floor IMO.

I'm not sure he'll ever see any meaningful minutes in a Cyclone uniform.

Not sure where his minutes come from. If he stays with it and keeps gaining weight and maturing physically I could see him contributing in 2016-17

Yes he is. He is going to work hard and make himself a gr8 player. Starts by getting in the gym and lifting weights. Soon enough, he will be our greek freak leading isu to a national title.

We have to have guys step up next year. I'd say Niang and Morris are the only two with a lock on a starting spot the entire year. Only reason McKay doesnt have a lock is because of Diallo. Greek could play, who knows.

Here nor there
There is always room for a 7 footer who can shoot the three in your lineup. He won't play until he learns defense tho.
I agree. There are minutes to be had for a 7 footer that can shoot and play sufficient defense. Is that Tsalmpouris? Maybe not next year. Like everyone has said, his comfort level needs to get better. More strength and mass would help in that regard. Hopefully as an upperclassmen he can be like JVB as a Soph.

Haha, McKay isn't a lock to start?

He's our best defensive player by a long shot, best rebounder, and roughly our 3rd best scoring option.

He also appears to have his head screwed squarely on, and a tenacious worker so I would expect him to get better by next year.

Even with McKay, I think we were outmanned in the frontcourt this year (see NCAA tournament). Hogue was not worthy of a starting spot. Niang only expends effort on offense. We don't recruit the position well. GT should see some backup minutes next year. However, I thought the same thing about Edozy this year.

I wouldn't be shocked if he and/or Custer red shirted next year. I know it's extremely untraditional to do that, but they probably had more playing time this year than they will next with the three studs we have coming in and two more scholarships to use.

Definitely don't recruit it well. Booker has been our best "post" off the bench.

My guess is that Williams will come off the bench and our front court will be just fine. Georges, Diallo, McKay, and Williams can handle the 4/5 spots just fine.

I'd be surprised if the Greek was a five-year guy anyway so I get not redshirting him. I do wish that Custer would've gotten one this year, and I could envision some circumstances in which Custer gets redshirted next year. I could also see Custer working hard and showing the same improvement that Naz did between his freshman and sophomore years to earn some playing time, though.

I'm not sure where to start with this mess .

Guessing if we land Diallo, that Georges starts at the 3. In our offense it really doesn't matter position-wise anyway. Monte, Naz, Georges, Cheick, McKay. No Diallo, then slide Georges to 4 and start Burton (if eligible) or Williams at 3.

You know Tsalmpouris has great value to this team whether he ever plays a meaningful minute or not. In every practice, our players have to play against him . . . shooting over him and rebounding against him. That has to be good for our starters.
