He was 'waiting for it to happen at some point to our team'? Wow. Now he just assumes we're going to get a FG blocked, or throw a pick 6, etc?

It's as if he was happy to see us get down 17-0 just to see how we would respond. And we responded to being down 17 pts by running up the middle? Wow... great response coach!
Imagine hearing your coach say this.

In public.

In front of national media.

Yeah, I knew we'd get behind.

Well who's fault is that ya jerk!

Who put us in a position where you knew we would get behind?

Anger rising even more now............

And is blaming everything now on how young this team is... not realizing that's all his fault too. Why don't you have experienced juniors and seniors all over your starting lineup... instead of true freshmen and RS freshmen? Who's fault is that Matt?

TV timeouts just suck the wind out of everything. My kid was keeping track how many times the ref with the clock went out on the field yesterday, and stopped counting at 13 with more than a quarter to play.
At one point I think I counted 5 breaks in about 3 mins of game play. And that is with the new continuous clock rules.

It was absolutely ridiculous.

Shorten the game cuz its too long, but it was just so they could add more commercials.

Doesnt have to be that way. Theyre a terrible matchup because we play right into their favorite style.

If you are dueling Inigo Montoya, you dont choose swords. Try hand-to-hand or a battle of wits.

Stop throwing Brer Kirk into the briar patch and thinking you are winning.
Oh I don’t disagree! CMC isn’t going to adjust though. I guess that’s my point.

This!! Sounds like a hawk message board. Give it a rest doomsdayers!!! Love all the Monday morning QB’s who watch a game and think they know all the answers. Didn’t realize Bill Belichick, Nick Saban (who lost last night) and the ghost of Vince Lombardi hung out on this message board.

Everybody is frustrated, but seriously folks, you don’t have the right answers. Stick to your day jobs!!!
I wish Campbell would do his day job and produce winning football. He hasn't done **** since 2020, an awkward Covid year and not playing Iowa, then beating a weak Oregon squad. Followed by what could be arguably the biggest disappointing season in our history. Do your job or get out of the way.

No one is saying Kohl is “the answer”. They are saying we’re ****** either way so at least get him some game experience because Becht ain’t it.

JFC. I’ve seen this same “kohl isn’t the answer” reaction post 100 times and I don’t understand why people don’t understand.

So break Kohl when he clearly isn’t ready? I’m all for a QB cutting their teeth young but this year is what it is IMO. Ride Rocco and continue to build Kohl. Also, who knows Kohl may not be they guy either

First photo they are playing 9 yards off bitter. Second photo is when play is developed. As you see he still has plenty of space for quick throw or quick slant. Play action to quick slant. Or quick throw after snap. The play was in traffic in center of field for deflection. Before the snap you see how many Hawkeyes are within 5 yards of the line. There were so many blown options all day like this with space.
It would of forced them not to play 9 yards back and then opened up passing down the field. I’m not understanding this coaching philosophy of offense.
Hay Madden, what down and distance is that play? Makes a big difference if it's 1st or 3rd. Also looks like 4th quarter where Iowa is going to be trying to keep everything in front of them tonpreserve a lead.

CMC was going to ride Jacob Park until he couldn't and put in a no one named Kempt.

CMC was going to ride Zeb Noland until he couldn't and put in a true freshman name Purdy.

If he isn't going to use Rocco's legs to keep the defense guessing then what's the point? It's not like he is a seasoned veteran with a cannon compared to Kohl. This isn't a knock on Rocco, but maybe we will just have to wait for things to get so bad he has to change. Hopefully they don't. But of course there was last year when it did so who the f knows.

Campbell’s tenure has been the best stretch of football in Iowa State history. One semi-disappointing year ‘21 followed by a very disappointing year last year and the lunatic fringe is ready to move on from our most successful coach ever. Suddenly we’re a football blue blood who expects a great season every year. Have some patience people. Campbell hasn’t forgotten how to coach!! Get a grip. If it pains you so much stop being a fan until we get the next Saban to come here and coach

Does Jay Jordan post on the premium board with his takes? He was great at pointing out things that would help improvement.

Those two photos don't tell much.

Yep, I've come around on that myself. This team desparately needed some good tune-ups on offense, and that was a great opportunity wasted.

My opinion on Campbell is starting to turn, unfortunately. I really feel like winning, for some really strange reason, just isn't important to him. His goal is for the game to be played his way, regardless of the final outcome. He considers a game played his way a victory, even if the other team scored more points. . .

And to keep saying winning is hard at ISU is just a self fulfilling prophecy. You can't say that bull ****. It kills recruiting.
CMC wants wins - they’re important to him. He just wants them via his system. He’s not a coach that is going to adjust things based on the talent available. He’s willing to lose games in the pursuit of his system. Team execution is valued over individual performance.

In his mind, you don’t win w/ playmakers you win by everyone doing their job and not making mistakes. In his system, a 1 point win is perfect b/c that’s all that’s necessary. Winning by more just introduces risk - risk or turnovers, risk of injury…CMC is more risk adverse than Ben Stiller in Along Came Polly.

Agree. CMC is a LOT more conservative than even KF is. Not even close honestly.

I was going to agree but... he DID finally change his approach to special teams. It was like pulling teeth, but it happened.

He preaches self improvement. He needs a life coach or mentor or something he will listen to help him do that. JP??

Well said.

It is their Super Bowl. And ya know what? They are correct. It is THAT important of a game. It rally does deserve the highest amount of focus and discipline and preparation. I highly doubt our staff will ever ‘get it’.
This is such a lame excuse. Iowa’s Charmin Soft schedule means they could be an Ohio State or Michigan meltdown from making the playoff.

The Iowa State coaching has GOT TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE after that performance yesterday.

He said this after getting our asses handed to us ... 3 years ago by Louisiana 31 to 14. He still can't figure it out. But we are reminded, we are Iowa State so we will ALWAYS struggle. Meanwhile you peasant fans just sit there and take it.

Yeah I really, really hate to say it, but I feel the same way. I will plan other activities from here on out, except the Texas game (which I'm going to). Probably listen on the radio or just gamecast while doing something else.

It's the combination of gross, un-entertaining style, lack of talent, and ultimately losses. I could get behind TJ when he had the basketball team playing disgusting ball, but he actually won games.
Yes, there’s a big difference between winning ugly and losing ugly.
