Yes, there’s a big difference between winning ugly and losing ugly.

Yup... losing by not even trying to win the game on offense... and giving your players a chance to go out there and win the game. Pure chicken s**t coaching. Don't risk anything.... you might just win the game!!

Campbell’s tenure has been the best stretch of football in Iowa State history. One semi-disappointing year ‘21 followed by a very disappointing year last year and the lunatic fringe is ready to move on from our most successful coach ever. Suddenly we’re a football blue blood who expects a great season every year. Have some patience people. Campbell hasn’t forgotten how to coach!! Get a grip. If it pains you so much stop being a fan until we get the next Saban to come here and coach

It's about recognizing patterns, not being a lunatic. I was all on board with Campbell and said multiple times that he's our guy as long as he can adjust. Well, he's not adjusting. . .

Hay Madden, what down and distance is that play? Makes a big difference if it's 1st or 3rd. Also looks like 4th quarter where Iowa is going to be trying to keep everything in front of them tonpreserve a lead.
Yes a much better option is to throw a 4 yard pass in the middle of the congested field which got batted down. That’s how that play ended.

So break Kohl when he clearly isn’t ready? I’m all for a QB cutting their teeth young but this year is what it is IMO. Ride Rocco and continue to build Kohl. Also, who knows Kohl may not be they guy either

He might break, he might thrive. Didn’t see any of this type of ***** fit when we threw Purdy to the wolves. We’re still ISU, why are we pretending like we have anything to lose? If we don’t make bold moves we’re going nowhere.

I see you’ve conveniently left out any mention of our last-place Big 12 finish last season in year seven of the Campbell era. Also, 2021 was “SEMI-DISAPPOINTING?” We were coming off a NY6 win and were barely bowl eligible with the best QB and RB in school history as seniors.

Also ie 2021, an insanely good defense to go with all that.

Did you watch the UNI game? He isn’t ready. JFC Kohl is not the answer right now. Say what you want about Dekkers but he absolutely f*cked this team!
I never said he was ready. I just don't think it matters if they don't start playing better.

Dekkers wasn't very good either so don't see how his situation matters

Agree. He was so proud of that drive... when deep inside KF was laughing hysterically. It was EXACTLY how KF wanted that drive to go... minus the TD at the end... KF figured we'd just get a FG.

KF knew his team couldn't sustain any kind of drive to kill the clock... so why not let ISU just dink and dunk it down the field and run the Matt is a better person than KF obviously, but that doesn't count for much when you're paid to win football games.
What does being a better person have to do with anything? So on some level, even though we got embarrassed yesterday, you are ok with it because our coach is a better person, which makes us as fans vicariously better people than our hawk brethren?

This is an odd issue to raise in my opinion. I’ll take the jerk who knows how to win over a nice guy who is happy to lose…

I was going to agree but... he DID finally change his approach to special teams. It was like pulling teeth, but it happened.

He preaches self improvement. He needs a life coach or mentor or something he will listen to help him do that. JP??
Fair point on ST. But I will really believe it if he changes his offensive scheme when necessary.

I think he once said he wanted to win championships, plural. I doubt that offense will win any championships.

I totally agree with you. I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say.

Hot take here. The reason there was no weeping and teeth gnashing is that Purdy had impactful skill players around him along with a semi-competent offensive line to allow him to cook. This team has none of those things. Also, probably helped that the team was winning in mostly an impressive fashion, sans the Drake game.

Just a reference photo for all of you younger clones. He was a defensive back who could intercept a pass with his helmet.

No but they've been slightly better than ISU on the whole. This game has come down to a handful of plays and ISU was the one who doesn't make them.

CPR didn't beat an Iowa team that went on to have a winning record.
Iowa did finish 7-6 in 2011 and 2014.

He said this after getting our asses handed to us ... 3 years ago by Louisiana 31 to 14. He still can't figure it out. But we are reminded, we are Iowa State so we will ALWAYS struggle. Meanwhile you peasant fans just sit there and take it.
I give up. You’ve won me over with your stellar insights and sharp football mind. FIRE CAMPBELL NOW!!! I hope Pollard asks for your help with the next hire.

2021 football reminds me of those first couple Prohm years in basketball. While they were good seasons relative to our overall history, when you look back and see the talent on those teams and what those guys went on to do as pros you really start to see how much they under achieved. In the case of Prohm, it was the first sign he was in over his head and wasn't going to get it done here. But at the time most of us were happy enough with a couple NCAA wins that we didn't see it.

Don't be a drama queen.
Nah to fire him now. We'd lose a ton of 3 star recruits in the hopper. Then what would we do?
I think Campbell is an outstanding man. Loves his players and their families. Represents the U in an outstanding manner. Gave me some win moments thought I'd never see.
But he's lost and won't ask for directions.
His stubbornness in not addressing his teams weaknesses for years will be his downfall if he doesn't change.
Then on to the next coach and new hope for Cyclone football.

And now Ben Bruns has caved too. You have to be kidding me!

Just listened to him on Iowa Everywhere. Basically praised how good Iowa is, praised our really young team for being able to hang in there... said Iowa will likely go on to have another great season... and basically said our season will suck... but only because of how young we are... and we all need to still be excited and be supportive because he thinks the future will be bright even though we're going to struggle a lot this season.

He wasn't even upset with how long we were taking on that TD drive.... because.... of course.... we're so young!

So.. speaking of 'tired'... I'm tired of all this BS. All of the ISU media is just slurping up all the BS that CMC puts out. Just awful. We all knew we were going to suck this year... so it's all fine!!

Haven't listened yet, but Bruns was pretty candid with his analysis last year. I would hope he continues to be honest if there's aspects of the team and coaching he doesn't like.
