Time to lock up JP

Well in the grand scheme of things what are his alternatives? He has no job, he has no money, he can't watch Iowa Basketball since their program has been disbanded, he can't watch Iowa football until the the hoks date of execution rolls around on December 30th, and he can't visit the Iowa trophy case as sadly it is empty....

Someone refresh my memory of the poster that used to come around about 3 years ago that was just absolutely completely anti-pollard. His signature was all of the "non accomplishments" of Pollard.

Where's the pic of the Huskers taking the Heroes trophy? Or was there no picture because they didn't care?

Time for an edit job. I completely forgot about that rivalry.... like most of the country did as well based on the 1.5 tv rating it got. :biglaugh::biglaugh:

The only bad choice he had was McDent. I do not know what happened. The kids just did not want to follow orders or something.

Hey genius, he ran the Florida program into the ground. That's why he left. Everyone knows that.

Florida went 7-5 last year, 6-6 this year, and they won't do any better next year.

He told Muschamp "it's a dead program" when he got hired. You know this, right???

Did he now? find me a link and then i'll believe you.
Welcome back Monty!

The mistake with McD wasn't the initial hiring, but the mega contract he was given before he did anything.

Yup. With the automatic extensions especially.

As far as JP's major hires go, id say:

Chizik- great hire. national media were amazed we got him as he was a rising star at the time. Sure, he left after 2 years, but nobody expected him to be a long term coach, we just figured (as is the case 99% of the time) he'd have to give us some success before he got a job offer out of here.
McDermott- solid hire that ultimately didnt pan out. You take a gamble on every hire, and the best you can do is to try to have the best cards. Selecting a guy who'd taken UNI to the tourney 3 straight years is a good way of doing that. Evidently just a bad fit here.
Rhoads- going great so far. Great fit, and if anyone has a chance of being Iowa State's version of KState's Snyder, its CPR.
Hoiberg- the jury's still out. last year it felt like we got more out of our talent than we would have, but ultimately we have to see some sort of improvement, or the recruits will see a lack of progress and not jump on board anymore. Too early to call.

And he's done a good job locking up BF and keeping CJL (who is building somethiing great here) around as well.

I had a roommate from Wisconsin who told me all about Pollard's days at UW and said that it would be a culture-changing hire for ISU. He had come to the conclusion that JP has a lot of crazy ideas, but they are crazy ideas that work.

...I now know what he meant by that. Let the Pollard Express keep on rollin'!

I agree with Al_4_State. Chiz and GMac looked to be good hires at the time, but they were given raises and extensions after terrible seasons. That's why we owe a big thanks to Auburn and Creighton for taking them off our our hands or our football and basketball programs could have been doomed for a long time.
