And Fred doesn't get MBB turned around, ie no NCAA appearance.....

And CPR does 6-7 wins a year - at most....

Is JP still a good AD ?


Don't get me wrong, I like the upward momentum and direction (and I'll listen to the wrestling experts who say KJ needs a couple more recruit classes), but I would feel more resolve if we can get Wrestling and MBB turned around.

I think so. A good hire is unfortunately not a guarantee of success. JP has also learned through McDermott and Chizik that a "good hire" is not always the right fit. He has found coaches that want to be here and understand and love Iowa State for what it is. He has taken big chances on Rhoads and Hoiberg to do this. Even if this gamble does not pay off 5 years from now, I respect JP for putting his neck on the line to bring these guys in.

I see Rhoads and Pollard as having the same goals for ISU...building. Jamie could have stayed at Wisconsin, but they were already successful...a force in college athletics. I think he saw that what ISU needed was someone who has seen that the only thing holding ISU back was the outlook that ISU has had. We have grown accustomed to accepting failure or mediocrity. I am a cheapskate...but two years ago I talked my friends into getting season tickets with me. I donated to the Cyclone club... And why? Sure the glimmers of hope with the football team encouraged me, but greater than that was a real shift in thinking.

I was once told by one of my managers, that even if he had reservations about a policy or strategy it didn't matter. His job was to implement it and get everyone on board. If you think it's gonna fail it will. If you do everything to make it successful and it still fails...well at least you know that it wasn't because you didn't do everything you could and that it could have been successful.

I want ISU to be successful but what was I doing to help? I wasn't going to games and wasn't investing in their success. Time for me to step up and I feel I have. And that wouldn't have happened without Jamie telling ISU fans it's time to put up or shut up. I think some people were offended but in truth ISU needed this shock. And while we're not world killers right now..I think everyone who knows ISU that this University is building and I'm excited. I don't follow wrestling too close but even what I hear from that is that we are sure on a down year right now but have some monster recruits coming in and with the redshirting this year poised for future success.

Anywho just my 2 cents worth. Glad we have Jamie so let's help him build something great here!
