If you've never had a smart phone, you'll likely be very happy with either option. For me, the tipping point was 4G since I tether my laptop to my phone frequently.

I've owned multiple androids and got the 4s when it came out. There not even a comparison between them. The iPhone is way better.

Just shows you "to each his own". I've had multiple iPhones and decided to go with Android this time. I don't think I'd go back to an iPhone at this point, I prefer Android.

If speed means anything to you I'd shy away from the iPhone for now. If you are buying now then get a 4G capable phone. If you can wait the iPhone 5 will probably be a decent leap over the 4 or 4S.

I honestly can't tell you which non iPhone to get. It seems like every other week some new phone is introduced and claims to be "better". Is Android an OS or phone maker?

You gotta give Apple credit for at least giving you about a year before they roll out a new model that obsoletes your old one. Android seems to roll out a new Jesus phone every other month.

Love my iPhone...love the iCloud software as well (never have to synch)

This is the kind of stuff that has me leaning away from android on my next phone. The interoperability with my iTunes and appletv. Love airplay.

Android is just the 'OS', compare to Apple. The difference is with Apple you only have the iPhone while with Android it is an open-source software, thus any phone manufacturer can make an Android phone. That is why you see so many Android phones and why an Android phone will likely always have the latest and greatest hardware in their phones.

I am definitely leaning towards iPhone for my next phone later this year as well. While I love my Droid Incredible (the first phone I have owned in a long time that I actually liked this long into owning it), I was not thrilled with having to do a hard reset on it just to get Gingerbread, and even though I backed up my data I still lost data. Plus it's probably going to mesh well with the iPad I plan on buying within the next few months.

I owned the original iPhone, the 3GS, and then the 4. I recently switched to the Galaxy Nexus and Verizon. ATT coverage was brutal here so I spent most of my time on the Edge network for the iPhones. I'm on 4G all the time with my Nexus, the screen is enormous (but eats the battery like crazy), works better as a phone (IMO), and seems much faster then the iPhone 4. The major downside I've noticed is apps and music.. android market is terrible for these, and I've found myself really missing being able to get new music and/or games/apps. Oh and the phone burns battery.

So hence it's almost an apples to oranges comparison.

Another thing to consider is size. The 4S has a 3.5 inch screen, which is much smaller than all the Android phones. It's compact, but not the easiest for big thumbs. To me, the 3.7 on my Incredible is a good compromise between screen real estate, and bulk. The RAZR and Rezound are both 4.3, while the Nexus is like a cookie sheet at 4.66 inches. Typing is a breeze, but skinny-jeaned douches will be in trouble.

I just don't understand comments like these. How many hundreds of thousands of apps are there on the android market? I can't think of a single significant app (or app function) which is available for iOS and not for android. I know of at least two ways to purchase music as well -- Amazon MP3 app and even Google Music. Google Music is pre-installed on the Galaxy Nexus.

There have been so many comments like this. "Android is hard to use", "No apps", the list goes on. Either these people are so used to Apple products from their iPods that they can't get used to an equally easy, but slightly different, system or I have vastly underestimated my tech savvy-ness.

Thanks for all the info fellas. The 4G speed thing really isn't that big a deal to me (but not having owned a smartphone before, maybe I just don't realize that it's not a big deal to me).

I've read that the android phones seem to have better phone service and voice clarity while the iPhones have better cameras. The app markets are about the same in quality and quantity from what I can tell. I'm leaning towards the Razr, but will look at the HTC stuff as well. Maybe I'll also wait a bit to see what other phones are coming down the line.

I'd go iPhone. Easy to use, great features like iCloud, media stores (iBooks, iTunes, App store), battery life, and will it will serve you well for years.

After you've owned a smartphones speed will matter.

The service is more indicative of AT&T or Verizon. AT&T service just sucks regardless of what phone u use.
