these refs need to lose their jobs

This is how O Rear plays. Remember Clint Varley? Same type of player. Jared Homan without any offensive ability. The kind of guy everyone hates to play against, but if he were on our team he would be a fan favorite and he would have fouled out after 12 minutes on the court. Kind of wish Hamilton had stuck around to be that kind of guy for us.

You think in 2 years he was going to be decent. He was AWEFUL. I guess he was big, slow, bad on offense, slow on defense, and white. So yeah. I guess he was just like Homan.

Believe me, I hate Iowa more than you could ever imagine.

And no, I don't feel the officiating was biased. Guess what...the refs aren't out to get the 6-0 ISU Cyclones. UNI didn't pay the referees. We didn't have this game in our back pocket.

These are typical excuses by guys who have either A) never played the game before....B) don't understand the game....C) will not be around when ISU is 16-14 and out of post season play

Refs are refs. There are good calls. There are bad calls. If you team is everything this message board made them out to be, you should've been up by 25 before the refs even had a shot to blow their whistle.

We were up by 9 before the refs showed up.

If your Cyclones were such a great team, you should've been up by enough for the refs to have no impact.

This might be the dumbest post I have seen in a long time and I didn't even see the game. I have watched basketball before though and there is a reason the home team usually wins or beats teams better than them and that has to do with the officiating.

I also remember a game ISU played against Mich state in which the outcome of the game was clearly determined by the officials at the end.

Get real with the officials don't change the game bs. That isn't ever true. And I know that ISU gets more calls at home just like everyone else.

Hamilton was going to be a good player for us. I have no doubt about that. He was big, athletic, had soft hands, and understood positioning. His offense was rough, but even that by the end of last season was coming around. Hamilton would be a really nice player to have right now.

I DVR'ed the game but not going to watch it again. The picture was so **** poor that it gave me a head ache.

Yeah, my picture constantly lightened and had very little color or tint. Was that your problem too? I wonder what caused that; they never fixed it, that's for sure.

Clint Varley? you mean the guy that played a whole 20 minutes in his career? Nobody hated to play agianst him.

The comparison wasn't about impact, it was about style and skill sets. Or lack there of. Neither Varley or O Rear had any recognizable skill, other than a forearm shiver and an ability to get loose balls. Homan played that same style, but had a decent offensive game to go with it.

Has anyone brought up the fact that we beat Creighton on a blown call? If not...WE BEAT CREIGHTON ON A BLOWN CALL! Sometimes calls go your way and sometimes they don't. Stop the *******.'

Maybe it's just a really long hangover that I have from the ISU/Mich St Elite 8 game in 2000, but it just seems like the officiating in college hoops sucks entirely more often than it should. It's the one visible blemish on what is otherwise one of the best sports there is.

UNI had that called on them twice, it is a bad call but had to call it both ways.

this exactly.

the first one on UNI was shady ... the 2nd one was absolute crap, happened right in front of us and it was nowhere close to a travel.

ISU's just came at an important time, so it hurt worse

and this thread is too long, so I wont read it.

but I didn't think the refs did all that bad. they tried to clean up some things early ... then apparently let them all go for a while and then tried to clean it up again late. not much for style points, but it wasn't a terrible job.

Ejim is not smart about his fouls, and Godfrey is worse. We can live with Godfrey (dude, you can't land on a guy and complain about a foul) but Ejims gotta clean it up. He just gets unnecessary ones.

I thought it was traveling late ... didn't he get the palming in the 1st half? and I thought that was on Ejim.

sorry, we were under the hoop on UNIs end in the 2nd half so ISU end of the court was hard to see.
