David Brent. Not even a contest. Love the US version, but it isn't as witty.

Tough choice for me. David Brent is smarmier and more British-ly subtle.

I've been a Carell fan since his early days on the Daily Show (Produce Pete, anyone?)

I'm going to have to abstain.

See I prefer Michael because he at least has some redeeming qualities. David is just such a jerk it makes the show hard to watch at times, and that's just not funny to me. Usually I like those uncomfortable moments but they are so frequent and prolonged in the UK version.

I will agree that it is absolutely torturous every time David is on the screen. I think that's what makes it such a "bad guy" thing for me - and makes Dawn/Tim even more sympathetic. I absolutely understand where you're coming from, though.

Speaking of "The Office", they're doing it again. They're focusing on the relationships and it makes the show sucky...in my opinion. The funniest bit of last night by far was the Cornell situation with Dwight and Andy. They need to stick to being in the office. Are they really out of ideas already?

EXACTLY.. that show really hurt itself wasting time on the Jim and Pan thing. Less relationship stuff.... more comedy.

I like Pam better than the UK girl and Dwight better than Gareth as well. I like their guy better than Jim though.

As much as i love michael scott, david brent is so much better. Ricky Gervais plays that part perfectly.

With that said, I love the US version of the Office too. This season has been great.

Huge fan of Michael Scott, and Steve Carell in general, but David Brent is funnier. Every time he picks up a guitar is just a riot, like when he is trying to cheer up Dawn by singing her a song about Pricess Di. Too funny.

I can't look at Gareth without thinking of him with a wooden eye, though.

Tangent, feel free to ignore, but are there any other UK series' that have been brought over here that are great to watch? I'd be interested in Life on Mars and I can really recommend Coupling even though I need to check my balls at the door to watch that one.

I don't know exactly how it is categorized, but Extras with Ricky Gervais consitently makes me laugh. Here's a great clip with Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame.

Don't you see a breakup coming though? Pam is finally living her own life...and enjoying it! She is going to get an offer to teach or work somewhere and she is going to take it...and THAT might be the beginning of the spin-off? Maybe? Just a hunch. Or the spin-off could be Holly's new branch office? When will we know what the spin-off will be?

its not technically going to be a spin off.. it will be a different subject with none of the same characters.. the only thing they are taking is the mockumentary style of the show.. so i hear. And even better than David's free love song is his music video he does of "if you don't know me by now" with his lawsuit money.. hahaha
