I remember joining the site and having no idea what the pirate meant. They were everywhere.

I remember it first getting used. He had to put "<---sarcasm pirate" next to it and for a while a few people had it in their signatures. I think that is why it took off personally. Signatures aren't as popular now as they were for a long time.

We had a big movement to have it added to the top smiles, from down below, at one point; but when CW took over and the new format was introduced we lost him back to the bottom.

If I remember correctly it was introduced on the second page of a thread in response to someone. I believe it was football related. That's all I got

I've never put too much stock into cries of blasphemy, always assuming people were just being oversensitive when conflicting ideas arose......but this is the single most blasphemous thing I've ever read:

"Yes... Can we change it from jimald too? I don't know what that means. "
