Definitely a good read. If I have time I think I'll pick up that book when it comes out. Auriemma is a polarizing figure, but there's no question of his coaching ability.

Good stuff. I don't think there's any debating that he's an arrogant SOB, but when you're that good at something you can be.

Does anybody know if he and BF are cordial or is Geno still ****** about getting beat in '99?

considering that BF and one of UCONN's assistants are good friends, doubtful. Also, because of USA basketball, Geno and BF have had some conversations. Doubt anyone could hold a grudge against BF. Frankly, Geno welcomes competition, and is probably hoping BF pushes his team harder.

I find both Geno and Summit very interesting. I cant remember where I saw it, but I watched a pretty good documentary on Pat Summit and I really thought that it was fascinating. She is kinda the "Bobby Knight" of womens bball but less violent.

I have really liked this guy since becoming aware of him when UConn really started getting good in the early 90s. This piece doesnt change that a bit. If it can't be ISU, UConn is fine with me!

I figured as much but just had never heard much one way or the other. They are both competitors so I would expect them to relish the competition. I hope we can land a couple of haymakers on Sunday and take them out.

Wow. Nice excerpt. Always liked Geno. Started watching a little women's basketball due to him since I lived in Connecticut from 99-03 especially with Taurasi (that girl, wow, she could play). Interesting insight into the world of college basketball...

Agree, I don’t think there is any grudge. Seems to me Geno holds a grudge if you disrespect him or his program. Bill beat him once but has never dissed him. Bill just called him the best coach in America and UConn maybe the best team ever.
