Does Devries actually have any ties to the U of I? Or just the state?
According to Wikipedia, he's from Aplington and played his college ball at UNI. Was an assistant at Creighton for a long time.

West Virginia is good landing spot for any coach. Iowa is a dumpster fire right now; a step down. Not even a lateral move.

Iowa men's basketball hasn't had much fan support in almost 30 years. They are more focused on Football, wrestling and women's basketball.

WVU at least cares about men's basketball.

I saw a pic of last nights crowd and there were like 8 people at the game. No way they can keep that up. Now the womens team is starting to suck also. So they can't even just ignore what is giong on with mens basketball.

They are back to a wrestling school, as long as bob keeps buying wrestlers.

God I hope he does not get fired. Please make the NIT and save your job.
Hawk fans prefer going far in NIT to NCAA tournament so that might get him a raise!

I’m guessing he’s looking at senior living options in Indy as we speak.

His brother played football at Iowa, and the rumor is the entire family grew up EIU fans. The 3 brothers own 10/12 grocery stores in Iowa under the name of Brothers Market. Most of the stores are located in smaller county seat towns like Bloomfield and Sigourney. His buyout at WV is one third of his the remaining contract. Currently making $2.8 million a year.

Guessing WVU extends him with a lot more money after this year. I am sure they see what is going on in Iowa City and know his past connection with them.

I am afraid he is done. I really would like to see them pull it together enough to make the tourney and get him another year or two as I think he could permanently run them into the ground.

Going to be very interesting to see who replaces him. Unless Devries really wants to be in Iowa, I think they are going to have to settle for a mid-major.
They're going to take a hard run at DeVries, and if they can't get him, they'll hire McCollum.

Both would be upgrades over Fran.

I would think he would rather take over the Creighton job from Mac than the EIU job. At Creighton you have more NIL, and do not have to share the limelight with WBB and football like you would at EIU. Creighton is the better program and he coached there a number of years. McDermott is only 60 and currently makes $2.1 million a year, EIU will be able to double that figure.
