Picked up a blu-ray player on Sony's website for $200 (normally $300) the day after Thanksgiving.

Loving our regular DVDs on it - can't wait to see what an actual blu-ray movie looks like. The Dark Knight would be a great "test run". :)

were you aware of the screen size going from 2:4.1 to 1:78 for IMAX? i didn't and was completely blown away by the sharp detail of those scenes.

I did not know that. I just picked up a PS3 on Sunday, and I will be popping the cherry on its Blu-Ray capabilities this evening. Glad to hear the Dark Knight is a good way to get started. You always remember your first.

I watched it a couple of days ago (I have a relative who works for a movie rental place who can get them early). I'm not normally into the Batman movies, but this one was really good. The only real problem I had with it is Maggie Gyllenhaal as the "beautiful" assistant DA.

Um, Maggie Gyllenhaal is not beautiful by any stretch of the imagination and I just laughed out loud when the Joker went on and on about how beautiful she was.

Don't get me wrong, I like Maggie Gyllenhaal and think she's cute, but beautiful? I had been thinking the whole movie that I'd seen her looking a lot better than she did in Dark Knight, then the Joker makes his "beautiful" comment. Maybe it was the makeup or something, but I thought she looked homely in Dark Knight.

i will agree with that somewhat.

I did prefer her to katie holmes..I never did buy into her as an attorney.

I think it depends on the light. My wife joked when we saw the film in the theater that she made a better "Two Face" than Aaron Eckhart.
