Fouling with a 3 point lead shouldn't even be a "decision" in college basketball. Not only is the three point line fairly close but you can't advance the ball to half court after a time out like in the NBA.

Not to mention KU had a hot shooter on the floor.

I was pulling for you guys. I thought we all learned that lesson after KU beat Memphis in '08.

Sorry, but ****** off here. The players deserve more. Fred ****ed up! No way do your lay your bet on letting them shot a 3 pointer under 5 seconds. You leave no options. You foul, period. If they make 2, you can run off another second and then worst case they have to score with about 1-2 seconds.

Cant ******* believe Fred ****ed up! No way you don't stress to every player to foul at first opportunity past center court!

You guys must be among the brilliant basketball minds of the world as few coaches ever do that, and for good reason. He banked the ******* thing in people.
It doesn't take a brilliant basketball mind to choose having Naadir Tharpe at the FT line with 8.4 seconds left up 3 rather than having Ben McLemore shooting an open 3 on a night he has gone 5-5 from deep.

It doesn't matter. He should've never had the opportunity to bank in a three.

Completely STUPID! This can only happen to ISU.

Hoiberg should step up and take the entire blame for this loss. As soon as KL made his 2nd FT, Fred should have called timeout. Then in the huddle, explain to the guys that we need to foul.

I was screaming at the TV for someone to foul, and we never did. And of course, KU banks in a 25 footer with one second left.

I'm also completely devastated. I can imagine what the players feel like? They could easily lose a bunch of games after an emotional loss like this. Thanks a lot Fred!

Hindsight? Everyone in the building knew that a foul was coming. Even the announcers, who may be among the stupidest people on the planet, were discussing the foul that they knew was coming.

I'd like to be asked not be linked with the "this game is on Fred" people that are in this thread. He made one bad, but ultimately popular (for no reason) choice but kept us in the game against one of the best teams in the nation with his game plan.

I don't think they wanted to try to box out Withey and Young with Ejim and Clyburn or a cold Gibson or Booker off the bench. Way to easy for KU to make a FT and then have one of those guys tip the miss out for a wide-open game-winning three.

Um, the guys had the game WON. It was OVER. And we found a way to give it to them. You are wrong.

Somewhere in the U.S.
Kansas made 7 more free throws than ISU even shot. 38 chances for them.......20 for ISU. Outscored by 12 at the FT line. KU shot 50 percent from the field.

Disappointed that ISU did not foul before the last shot. Not flagrant.....just foul. Players should have known. Coach has to know.

If you are not going to foul.......of all the players to leave open to take the shot.......it can't be McLemore.
