Interesting. Some program with deep pockets will most likely pay him what he wants.

Theres always going to be somebody that will take a chance on someone like him, even if he is a pain to deal with. See it in pro sports all the time.

This should keep him from getting a good deal

If true, I'd side with TN on this. Not that he shouldn't get paid, but if we're treating college sports like the big business it is, fans need to be treated more like customers.

Even in the pros, fan engagement and PR is part of the deal.

Not that a player can't do this at ISU, but it does seem like We Will and Brent (along with the coaches) are pretty upfront with expectations that come with the payments.

I’m hopeful this starts changing how all the NIL crap is handled. These kids are getting way too cocky asking for more money. Contracts need to be in place, ironclad. You can’t continually go back for more money.
It would also be nice to see a 2 transfer limit, or a 2 season period between transfers. Hopping to a new school each year is insane.

Don't know if this was already discussed somewhere or not?

Volunteer star QB holds out of spring practice, demands going from $2 mil per year to $4 mil per year in NIL, or he will enter portal.

UT amazingly to me... says... "don't let the door hit ya on the way out". What a crazy world we are in.
It would seem like this is a very short sighted approach by Iamaleava. Sure, you can hold out from UT and maybe get a million or two more. But you've just signaled to the entire NFL that you're hard to deal with. Even if he produces on the field, you have to think that will cost him millions in draft stock.

Though, sports executives are desperate enough for a franchise QB that if he lights it up on the field, this probably won't matter that much, unfortunately.

The NFL will not give a **** about this. It's already full of guys who put money first, and are seeking the best deal that they can get. They're absolutely used to dealing with those kind of players because... the NFL is a business and they're not trying to pretend that it's something else, like the NCAA has been, and continues, trying to do.

If Nico's draft stock falls, it will be because he's not good enough, not because he sought a big payday.

The Browns signed Deshaun Watson to a $230 million contract. NFL teams don't care about anything but potential.
