Look at the reaction and see how the students, and all fans get into it.

No matter if someone else used it, it is also associated with us now.

Where it began, I can't begin to......

So you couldn't find anything positive to bring to the board after a great victory? Maybe you need to go.

I hate the song, but it is ok to play after wins. NEVER during a game.

I thought a world of positives. I LOVE this team, and think that they have a very good chance to win many more games. I also will not go. I was a freshman at ISU when the magic began with the Barry Stevens beating Mizzou in 1983. Just not nuts about the song or us copying the red sox.

IMO has gotta go. Why copy the red sox? Not original at all.

If you think the Red Sox started Sweet Caroline you are crazy. The sawks started playing that song in the 8th inning in 2002.

Next you'll tell me the Bulls stole the Alan Parsons Project song from the Huskers.

I really don't understand the dislike for Sweet Caroline. The students get into it, and it sounds awesome hearing everyone get into it. Instead of just criticizing it, maybe you should think of something to take its place....and I will bet you cannot come up with anything that gets the response that Sweet Caroline does.

So here are some suggestions of other songs.
Right Place Wrong Time- Dr. John
The Seeker- The Who
Who are You- The Who
I just want to Celebrate- Rare Earth(not the hokier versions!)
All Right Now-Free
Already Gone-The Eagles
Beautiful Loser-Bob Seger

Not sure of the originality of them, but not as blatant of a copy as SC.

I agree with not playing it during a game. But now everytime I hear the song I get chills because it reminds me of all the great times we have had recently. IMO its got to STAY!!!

Since I am from Iowa and have never watched a Red Sox game nor do I want to, I had no idea that the Red Sox play this song. I bet there are thousands of ISU fans that are not aware of that either. The only way that I know that the Red Sox play this song is from posters that seem to make it their mission to keep bringing it up. The students like it, it seems to have grown on the season ticket holders, and it now is a fun song that is associated with winning a game. Let it go. Let the fans have some fun. Who freak'n cares who else plays it. Especially when it is baseball team that no one in Iowa cares about.

Get over it. Other than the siren that was added this year, I can say for a fact that we have borrowed the game day interactions from other schools.

Cyclone Power and the Tunnel Walk were being done by Nebraska for decades.

"Another Cyclone . . .First Down" was being done by K-State since Snyder's first tenure.

I can't even say if those schools came up with those either, but ISU has borrowed most of them.

Sweet Caroline might not be the best addition during game play, but after a win is a great addition to the atmosphere.
