Nowhere and Everywhere
Yeah, my second major turning point was the birth of my son. The world stopped revolving around me immediately.
Nothing can prepare you for the emotions that hit you and instant mental shift when you become a parent.

My son was born not breathing and no heartbeat. They literally grabbed him and ran down the hall. I was running with them and still remember like it was yesterday the sound of him crying a bit later once they got him revived. I had no clue I could cry to the level I did at that moment. It set the foundation of becoming the giant sized tough dad that is also a soft sappy mess that cries at way too many things involving my kids. The three of them make fun of me all the time with “OMG dad is crying again” to which I always use the old SNL line of “Talk Amongst Yourselves” which they obviously don’t get!!

The day I broke my neck in a car accident was that moment for me. Pretty much everything I remember I base off of if it happened before or after that day. It was bad enough that I called my wife to tell her goodbye while I was waiting for the ambulance. I never had any paralysis which amazed the doctors and nurses at the 3 different hospitals I went to that day. It took surgery and a few months to recover but the only visible evidence is a slight scar on my neck and 4 scars from the halo.

The days my kids were born were definitely better days. I forget from time to time how good I have it, but I am thankful every day I have had since that day.
