Had subway for lunch yesterday and someone in front of me ordered the Fritos sub. They said it was $0.60 more for the fritos on top. Guy said "where does it say that?" and a **** storm ensued. Ultimately the guy paid the 60 cents. The kicker was the actually opened a small bag of fritos (the kind you would get with a meal "deal") took a few out, crushed them up, and put them on the sub.

If you are advertising the Frito sub, shouldn't Fritos be standard on them? That's like ordering a ham sandwich and getting charged extra for the ham!
My first guess is the subway dude screwed up.

LOL thanks for sharing this. Eat Freshâ„¢! Just wait a minute while I crack open a fun-size bag of cornchips we just made fresh. Summarizes my amusement and the op.

My problem with Subway is how lazy they're getting.

The "new" subs are simply combinations that have always existed, or just dumping chips on to the sandwich. I've putting chips on sandwiches since I was a kid, working on the farm, and the only way to spice up the sandwich that came in my sack lunch was to put some of the chips on it.

Before that they were advertising some kind of "spicy Turkey melt", where they just put jalapenos and pepper jack on turkey. The whole point of Subway always seemed to be "build your own" to me.

Just had Subway in the MU about an hour ago. Here's my report.

1. Only 5 subs are now $5, not including the sub of the month. None of the subs consist of more than one type of meat.

2. They have 4 sections, $5, $5.50, $6.50 and $7.50. The Frito sub is $7.50.

Conclusion: It's all about the meat. We need to produce more cows and pigs, and then kill them so the meat can be cheaper.

If they don't start making their own corn chips in store I'm calling my lawyer.

The Quiznos that was in Ames is going to be a Subway. Meaning that there will be a Subway .2 miles, or a 4 minute walk (according to google) from the Subway on main street.

It will be the 9th subway in Ames, compared to the 0 chick fil a's, sonics, firehouse subs, etc...

Not any different than every other fast food chain that way. They all pull that same re-mixing of old ingredients to try and churn up sales.

I've noticed that companies selling inferior products often rely on increased marketing and gimmicks in order to sell stuff. Look at Bud Light and all those other crappy beers that buy up about half of the commercial time during any sporting event and are constantly peddling meaningless "improvements" like aluminum bottles with twist-tops and cans that you can poke holes in.

I'd rather they put that advertising money towards making products that don't suck.

You guys have any Erb and Gerb's in your area? MUCH better bread and fixin's. Almost as cheap as Chubway, but so much better.

I've been poking holes in cans since college.

When we were in elementary school, one of our teachers got mad when we'd put chips on our sandwiches. She had issues in general, but that's another thread.

She'd always ask us, "If you were in a fancy restaurant, would you put your chips on your sandwich???"
We replied, "YES if that fancy restaurant served bologna with chips on the side"

 :biglaugh:

I only go to Subway a lot because it's right across the street and I only go there during lunchtime or a little after because I personally know the girl that works there. I don't even have to order, she knows what I want. Then she makes me a sandwich.

And you know what she wants right? Right? Right???
